Comic Vine Weekly Podcast 1-8-16
Yes I want to see sex in comic shows\movies. Humans in real life have sex, it's not some scandalous thing you are making it out to be. Also it's character development for Matt and Elektra just like in Man Without Fear.
Man Tony's complaints about romance and swearing are really weird.
I've never really understood the point of adding sex scenes to TV shows or movies? Like what exactly does it add to the show? There are many different ways to show that two people care for each other.
I always get a chuckle out of Tony bringing that 1950's sensibility to the podcast.
These are stories about human beings, and human beings go on dates and have sex with each other. I'm fine with more sexy times in movies and TV in general, and less violence.
We have seriously got to stop with this nonsensical American prudishness. We're like 100 years behind the rest of the world in that department.
Yeah, maybe we could have Matt and Karen pass each other notes during 4th period Literature. And then Karen could check the 'Yes' box and then we know she likes him. But if you want to get edgy with it, maybe the note can fall into some kind of crevice before she can return it to him, so Matt unfortunately doesn't know how much she hearts him. UNTIL THE FINALE OF COURSE!
Smash cut to Karen's yearbook frenetically switching hands until it winds up in the hands of our hero, MATT MURDOCK. Upon flipping to the page where his picture is located to write her some generic note about having a tubular summer, he sees a single pink heart in the corner of his headshot box, clearly done with a glitter gel pen. CREDITS.
Will they awkwardly peck each other on the lips eventually? TUNE IN TO SEASON 3! But until then, watch Vincent D'onofrio use a car door to smash a human man's head right off! America!
My favorite part is when he is going about restaurants & Tony just says cool. My thoughts exactly, lol.
@cyanidepie: all I'm saying is I don't want to have to sit through 3 minutes of two people having awkward sex. It adds absolutely nothing to the show.

The way characters interact with each other, including how they have sex, adds a lot to character development and relationships. Look at Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Their scenes add this idea of underlying frustration of having to hide who they are to the world, without saying a word. In addition, this is the first time they get to be who they truly are with each other and there's this idea of a weight being lifted off their shoulders because of it... All of this from a sex scene.
There's also nothing awkward about it. Everyone has sex. People watch sex on the Internet all the time. The only thing that's different is that this sex is humanizing, unlike porn.
I have no problem with sex scenes in movies or tv shows, but I wish they stopped putting romance in every one of them.
@inferiorego: to me it just seemed very forced. As in let's just throw it in there because we can. I think there could have been other ways to tell us there relationship was growing without showing us like that.
A large majority of people are perfectly capable of having NOT awkward sex. Some of them even like it and get tingly in their privates.
Well hopefully in Luke Cage's show we can get some scenes of them bowling and talking about their favorite college football games of the past decade, and maybe who some of their favorite superheroes are. You know, to really show us how adults grow their relationships.
@cyanidepie: see where did I say any of that? Like I said before, the only problem I have with it, is that it's in there just for the sake of being in there. There's nothing wrong with sex, I just feel like it was a waste of space in the overall plot of the show.
What the heck was that clip at end of the show?? I'm so curious now, I need spoilers!!!
@inferiorego: What cruise line were you on? I'd guess it was Carnival. That travel agent sounds like a jerk, a whole trip to Puerto Rico would be great, but I'll bet his sales are high if he can pull a move like that.
I love when Tony comes up with new ways to say SEX. How about, 'grown up tickle time'. I like the sound of that!!!
It's not just "in there for the sake of being in there" though. Just because you keep saying that doesn't mean it's true. Mat already gave you a perfect explanation as to why those scenes were in there.
@themantisshrimp: We try to save that for the elusive Comic Vine After Dark podcast.
@hempknight757: I'd rather listen to Mat talk about resturaunts in the Midwest than listen to Tony hyperventilate while trying to come up with a nerdy alternative for the word 'sex.'
Heh..I mean..you know..they did that..heh, you know..sexy times. Heh. When they did that thing.
Good lord, man. SEX. They had SEX. You have a kid. Why is this so weird for you?

@inferiorego @g_man. It could be possible that Rachel Turner is a descendant of Ben Turner aka Bronze Tiger.
They killed of Bronze Tiger in Arrow digital comics.
@g_man It's the smoke monster from lost...
im pretty ok with the sex,and really shows how close a character is,or how disgust they feel about themselves about it.I am also really loving Batman and robin Eternal, and especially Batman Beyond.I know many people online that dislike Batman Beyond, but for me I just really love where it's going, and pretty cool to see some heroes I once saw in the animated show get offed.I'm pretty sure that Tim will figure out a way to go back in time,to his own timeline and fix everything and save Terry.
But until then, watch Vincent D'onofrio use a car door to smash a human man's head right off! America!
Nailed it.
