Comic Vine Podcast 12-5-14
@flicker: That was it! I knew there was something more recent.
Lucha Underground is pretty great you guys
If only it wasn't on a channel that Comcast didn't want to charge a buttload of money to get El Ray.
Great episode, guys! I do have one theory ... one crazy theory about Agents of Shield or more specifically Skye and her dad.
Possible Shield Spoilers below ..but just in the disguise of an idea. Haha
I think that maybe, just maybe, Skye's father, played by the great Kyle Maclachlan, is actually the Inhuman known as Maximus!!! Both are super crazy (insane in the membrane as Cypress Hill would say), and with Kyle being a movie actor as well, he could .. maybe ... transition to the cinema side of the Inhuman story, if they choose to include him.
Now having said that crazy idea, here is the whopper - What if Skye is really Crystal? I know in the comics Crystal is Medusa's sister, but if they are not going to use Crystal in the movies (Fantastic Four Connection with Johnny and her current husband is Ronan and we know ... well ... moving on) it could work. Plus, how about this - Skye short for Skylar maybe (even though I know Skye is not her "real name") ... prearranged is Kystal ... all that is missing is the "R" ...Crystal. Okay, all it is really missing in all of this is a decent theory because this one is out there, but... maybe ... :-)
Anyway, enjoyed this weeks show. Keep on keppin' on!!
EDIT - I also think that ... (again possible spoilers for Shield ...
maybe Raina (the girl in the flower dresses) could be the Inhuman Desidara, the Inhuman "Finder" as Raina seems to do just that in all the episodes. And I suppose Skye's father could be the Inhuman Cuidar, an Inhuman doctor, but with his mental state, I am thinking the other fits better)
@syncig: Re: Cumberbatch
Indeed. If anyone doubts his ability, all they have to do is watch his newest movie - The Imitation Game to know the guys has some serious acting ability.
I also want to throw my two cents in on the Star Wars conversation. First, I think the broadsaber is cool. It appears as though it is an ancient saber and I'm totally fine with it. As for the "needing familiar characters" thing. I am basically the exact opposite. One of the reasons I love Star Wars is because it is a great universe that has a lot of interesting story potential. Limiting the stories to time periods and characters we are familiar with is not at all what I want. This isn't a criticism of Marvel's launch titles, more of a response to Tony. Respectfully, of course. I personally like the Old Republic era overall. I have a problem with the technology aspect of it though. It doesn't make much sense that the tech doesn't seem to have evolved at all over thousands of years. My affection for that era is squarely the characters. Many of the better "EU" characters have come out of that era imo. Also, I think that Star Wars has a tendency to feel too small when everything is related back to the core cast of the movies. I like when they expand beyond what we have already seen. Otherwise it feels like this entire universe is little more than a neighborhood occupied by a hand full of families that constantly pop up over and over again in the Star Wars lore. All of this is just my opinion though, and I apologize for the wall of text. This was supposed to be a quick response and then I realized I had a lot more to say.
Another Suicide Squad casting was Oprah Winfrey as Amanda Waller
Also a name for Tan is Tony MonTANa or Tan you Believe it or not
@mutant_god: I TAN Believe It's Not Butter.
Huh, weird, it helps to listen to music at the same time as the podcast, particularly when they bag on something clearly unbaggable, like Sherlock. Makes their uninformed opinions less ridiculous. :)
Thanks again for the podcasts fellas. I think my favorite part has become how G-Man deadpans pretty much anything Corey says. I just imagine Corey making one salient point after another and Tony tuning him out with music in his head.
And of all the pre recorded "HA!"s Corey's is still the best since it's the only genuine guffaw. Ever since you've started playing those I've heard a lot less of his famous guffaws in real time. That makes me sad. Looking forward to the next Endless Promo if only to hear just how much egg is on Corey and Mat's faces after playing those reportedly bad 2K wrestling games.

Dr. Strange is my favorite character from Marvel. Close behind is Daredevil. I am completely pumped about Cumberbatch being Strange. I think he will nail the role. He's great and I really don't understand how people can question the guy's skill as an actor.
Same here, he's probably going to kill it as Doctor Strange. Also, since your a fan I was wondering if you could recommend any good Doctor Strange comics.
@captainmarvel4ever: The Oath by Vaughn is probably my favorite Doctor Strange story of all time. It's incredible with some great art. I actually thought Doctor Strange Season One was pretty great as well. They reinvented the relationship between Wong and Strange. It's a cool origin retelling. Also, there is a collection of old Strange Tales issues that is a lot of fun. It takes Strange down a dark path and despite some dated writing it is really good. Any time I can recommend Doctor Strange & Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment I will. That book is brilliant. There is more revelations about Doctor Doom in it than Strange but it is definitely worth the read. Mark Waid wrote a story called The Doctor Is Out which was pretty good and quite a bit of fun. All of these are more solo oriented stories. Obviously, he has played a role on a number of teams as well and Matt Fraction's Defenders (despite some inconsistencies) had some pretty amazing Strange moments. I'm also a pretty big fan of how Hickman handles the character in New Avengers. Hope this helps and sorry for the late response. It's finals week at school and things are a bit hectic as a result.

I have no opinions on Sherlock because I haven't seen it. TAKE THAT!

After so many trials, I finally got a weird CAW. He looks like an 80s glam rock singer. His name is Heavenly Donny Holiday. His entrance is Summer Rae.
Dropped TMNT? You're breaking my heart, Mat!
Mission accomplished!
@inferiorego: Too bad all your CAWs are worthless without a story creator. That's a good wrestler name in a territories era kind of way but a good name will only get you so far in a bad game.

yeah.. yeah
Hwaah, great episode!!
How dare you Tony! Blahbu Goldblah is my favourite Star Wars character ever!!! You Jerk!
On a serious note, I'm super excited about 007 Spectre. As a fan of the novels I mark out every time they use something from them in the movies. I was originally hoping Waltz would play Blofeld but we'll see what happens. All the films since 2006 have been exceptional I think.
Thanks for the tips on Valiant. I think I'd like to read XO Manowar and Quantum & Woody. Although I'm still looking for the books you recommended in one of my previous questions so it might be a while. And thanks for the Turkey Talk, that's exactly what I wanted.
Cory, I live in a place where getting the El Ray Network is not even a legal possibility. Therefore I have no guilt about watching Lucha Underground online on Dailymotion. I think you need to give in and watch online, how else are you going to talk about it on the ENDLESS PORNO... I mean PORMO..... I MEAN PROMO!!!!
@iamnotgroot: It's not even a fair fight between Marvel and DC animated movies. DC has dominated that scene for nearly a decade now. In my books Marvel's only great movies are: Ultimate Avengers 1, and both Hulk Vs. I don't mind the Dr. Strange movie at all and I kind of enjoyed the Thor: Tales of Asgard as a fun adventure movie, but they still don't hold much weight against the might of the DCAU. My own favourite DC film is a tough call. It might be a tie between Justice League: The New Frontier, Batman: Gotham Knight, and Batman/Superman: Apocalypse. Although the new, Assault on Arkham will be added to that list after I watch it a few more times. But really they've all been good if not great. I had high hopes for the Marvel Anime stuff but that's all be pretty blah.
