Young fan boys need to read this article
@nickthedevil: Its actually a pretty accurate article too, new comic fans don't know how easy they got it now days
@_slim_: not a lot but it did happen, when I was growing up being a comic fan was so much different than it is now.
@joshmightbe: That's messed up. And yes, you can tell the differences between then and now... even tho I'm not that old lol. I still notice how it's become more accepted to be a comic fan.
@_slim_: I try not to be too cranky with the younger generation cause I understand things change and its not like it was when I was their age but sometimes when I hear teenage fans complaining I can't help but think these kids just don't know what they got. We were lucky to get a Batman or Superman movie but now they're doing Ant-man and Guardians of the Galaxy, when I was a kid just knowing the name of one of those guys would be a wedgie waiting to happen

Comic *cough* Movie *cough* Fans of Today:
Bahaha, I saw so many of those when I went to see the Avengers. A bunch of frat boys dressed up as Thor, Cap, and Iron Man. Looked like they just got back from shopping in the toy aisle in Wal-Mart. Everytime Thor, Cap, or Iron Man would beat up someone they would yell 'YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH". I was like..wtf...
I never got beat up. But growing up, my father frowned on it. pft, whatever. I turned out pretty okay, and broke the stereotype throughout my school years.
Years ago, I would not tell people that I recently met that I was into comics and video games. I'd let them get to know me first before they fell for that stereotype. I didn't even tell girls at all. Now, that's one of the very first things I tell people when I'm getting to know someone. My girlfriend and I frequently take a trip to the local comic shop, even though she has no idea about comics.
I'm happy that comic companies are bringing in the big bucks with all these movies, but some of the people who see these movies just see them for social reasons and the like. It's all over my Facebook now, "Going to the midnight premiere of Batman!" They don't even know his real name. Not to mention that people come up to me and testify that what happens in the movies are what happens in the comics as well. "No, Hulk cannot beat Thor. I don't care what happened in the movie."
There's nothing wrong with being open about your fanboyism. I wear a Batman outfit atleast once a week. The ladies and sometimes even the dudes love it.
@NlGHTCRAWLER: That's now days, when I was a kid being open about fan boyism made you a target for every asshole around you. This is also a bit of the fuel behind most of the old fan vs new fan argument because right or wrong we kind of feel like something that we actually suffered for has been taken by pop culture, now we see some of the same people who tormented us for our interest wearing Iron man t shirts and talking about how cool the Avengers movie was and it pisses us off. Not saying its right just saying that's how we feel sometimes.
@Blood1991: But its just so damned annoying seeing popular jock teenagers wearing Thor t shirts. I know they're just kids and I should let it go but my teen aged self just wants to go key their cars
man, being a nerd and geek here is difficult, suffer bullying almost everyday.But...
I'm happy being who I am.

@joshmightbe: That is so true. I call them out some times especially if its a group t-shirt. Oh who is on your shirt? Oh Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, uh some blond chick "Ms. Marvel!" Lol that are try and make them name five comic heroes who havn't been in a movie.
"Um...there is that dude that wear red
And the other who wears a nice uniform
And the other who beat up another guy
Oh,and the other that talked to Cap.America once.
And,of course, the other that use lethal weapons."
Don't expect more than this.
