So even under the protection of the first amendment (in the USA) one makes a really piss poor "film" which presents a very negative commentary concerning the Prophet Mohammed and because this riles up enough Muslims in Egypt to lead them to protest outside the American consulate/embassy in Cairo all of a sudden agents of the Federal government arrive unannounced at your door and escort you to an undisclosed location until further notice.

This same government is now policing the internet and domestic phone activity of it's citizens and the reaction from the teens and twenty-somethings on this site is basically "meh"?

Just a few thoughts for those who live outside of the USA. It may behoove you to understand the staggering percentage of global internet traffic which travels through and is stored in USA based servers. As the various attempts of this government to legislate elements of internet commerce and usage continues to increase it may also be helpful to know your particular nation's extradition agreements with the USA.

Nobody is reading your emails and listening to your phone calls. Unless you go on the internet publicly asking for bomb making instructions and maps of places with lots of people, you're fine. The government doesn't have enough time, money, or interest in tracking you. I can guarantee you the powers aren't being abused to check out what kind of porn you like just for kicks.

Uh, I was kind of a member of an online Anarchy website when I was in high school during the Bush era, so I'm pretty sure I've been on a watch list somewhere since 9th grade lol.

This isn't actually a conspiracy theory. The title is a total exaggeration however in the Boston Marathon bombing situation they were able to recall/retrieve phone calls between the bombers and the friends that threw out the bomb making equipment even though the calls had been made before the perpetrators had even been confirmed as the suspects, and it was another three days before they learned about the friends throwing out the bomb making materials, but they were able to retrieve the texts and calls though three days had passed by the time they listened/read them. That was confirmed by the law enforcers and investigators in press conferences.

So all calls and internet searches may not all be watched but they are somehow recorded in case a person commits a crime and they can recall previous messages/searches even without the actual computer to find out what the perpetrators were up to before hand or if they had assistance from others. This was also done after the Newton CT shooting. The guy had destroyed his computer so thoroughly that any information stored on the hard drive couldn't be recovered, but they were able to recover his internet searches because they were somehow stored.

This one isn't a conspiracy theory, and this is coming from a guy who finds pretty much every conspiracy to be filled with total bull s##t. Granted former semi anarchist but I was in 9th grade and an idiot lol.
