So recently my high school has banned yoga pants and leggings in their dress code and has started suspending girls who are caught wearing them. And now it has become a major controversy here. So I thoght I'd ask for your opinions how do you feel about this and school rules like this in general?
Yoga pants
Well, considering they ride up girls butts and are very revealing, I'm honestly surprised that more places of employment, and schools don't ban them.
@kingvenus: I don't wear yoga pants other people do. I'm just asking for opinions on this most of the girls here are trying to "protest it" which I find a little ridculous
@oldwasher: ' I wasn't talking to you specifically. i was talking in general , and i agree it is ridiculous instead of them protesting they should be getting an education.

@kingvenus: I mostly agree with your point but I think suspending them is going a little overboard

Suspending them without any warning perhaps. As long as the school sends letters home, and tells the students beforehand, it's fine.
@oldwasher: ' That is a bit much, but it's still discipline.
@kingvenus: I know and I agree I'm just asking for other people's opinions because people are going crazy over it
@greatcaesarsghost: that's true they did send an announcement out that they were gonna start cracking down on the dress code mostly yoga pants but a bunch of girls starting wearing them anyway in protest because they think its sexist

It's more misogynistic to wear them if anything, women as sex objects and blah blah blah. Men aren't allowed to wear them either, so I don't see how it's sexist myself.
@mrnoital: because most of the girls here think they should be allowed to wear them because they are comfortable and they should be allowed to wear whatever they want they say.
' as i said.. our generations is going down hill fast.
@greatcaesarsghost: me neither. Many girls have said because only the male teachers have pointed out the yoga points a distracting
@kingvenus: I know and frankly I kinda feel bad to be a part of it.
....I'll allow it.
Jmarshmallow
@wolverine08: why do you say that?
@oldwasher: They're just form fitting pants. Nothing wrong with them.
Bullsh%t.
Out of fairness they should ban Skinny Jeans and tight fitting chino's but if they ever did that at a school I was attending, I would burn it down....
NO ONE TAKES AWAY MY TIGHT FITTING TROUSERS!!!!!!!

:)
@wolverine08: I do think it's kinda stupid t I also think it's pointless for these girls to suspend themselves trying to protest it
I can't say I agree with wearing them to school, but to ban them is just dumb. What is this, the Soviet Union?
@jmarshmallow: thank you. I came for the pics.
@oldwasher: At my old school we weren't even allowed to wear shorts.
@artyom: ouch. How did that end up turning out?
Horrible...imagine going to school in august with jeans on. The rule is still in effect, but I moved to Texas where we can wear pretty much anything...including yoga pants.
@oldwasher: From what I hear they are really comfortable.

Lord Jamar was talking about Skinny Jeans where emasculating Hip Hop and he's not suprised that Rapper are wearing skirts and dresses now.
But neither the less they are an important part of my wardrobe :)
@oldwasher: I'm a boy too, but I know a boy on here that has tried them on.
@cyturner are yoga pants comfy?
@laflux: Only wimps do skinny jeans!

-_-
I mean.. don't get me wrong, I luh da booty, but I don't think too highly of the girls I see wearing yoga pants who have never taken a yoga class, or (god forbid) are too damn fat for it.
I'm surprised they didn't ban them sooner. Yoga pants are completely inappropriate in a school setting, as are leggings. Mind you, I think wearing them out in public at all is inappropriate, so take from that what you will.
@kingvenus: @squares: I never figured out how exactly leggings and yoga pants are different. And how is it getting side tracked?
@oldwasher: Yoga pants are exercise pants, generally made out of a stretchy, often synthetic material and are designed to breathe while still clinging close to the body so that they don't fall all over the place when you're doing yoga positions like, say, plow pose (wow, that sounds kind of dirty).
Leggings are light articles of clothing meant to be worn under things like tunics and dresses. They are generally made of thin, clinging, stretchy material, and often feature patterns or textures. In comparison to yoga pants, they are generally thinner, sometimes higher waisted, and are usually not meant to be worn without something covering them. Of note is the fact that leggings tend to be a little more restrictive than yoga pants.
