Yes, a Independece Day sequel... in 2 Parts!! And 3D!

No, they won't be doing a sequel to Independence Day this soon, according to Roland Emmerich he is having difficult in reaching the original cast. Though according to the producer Dean Devlin, the movie will be called Independence Day Forever and split into two parts in 3D. Meanwhile the original movie is in 3D-convertion process and will be re-released again on July 3 of next year.

Do we really need a Independence Day sequel? He might as well call them Independence Day - Give Me Your Money and Independence Day - Give Me Your Money Again.

I really liked this movie as a kid but after watching it again when I grew up, the whole "Americans will save us" things was getting on my nerves.And no it doesn't need a sequel and especially one split into two parts.

I don't think a sequel's a good idea. The original was awesome, but it can't be followed up. I mean, what would it even be about?

I loved the first one. That it has taken so long for anything concrete to come about isn't good news, neither is that there isn't a reason for a sequel. Will Smith and Goldblum saved the world from aliens, just leave it be.

Agreed. ID was didn't have much dept it didn't need to be more complicated than your average alien invasion flick. Movies split into separate parts usually have too much story to cover and not enough time. Besides, Emmerich promised 2012 would be his last "end of the world" movie.

FYI they claim it has taken so long to work on a follow-up because they allegedly didn't want to rush one just for the sake of money -- they apparently wanted to come up with a proper story.

Meh, I loved ID4 as a kid so I'm at least curious to hear more.

What is up with all these alien movies? They are all basically the same thing but from different viewpoints.
