The real question is whether I'm saving my country or my country's government. My country has a lot of innocent folk so I'll sacrifice myself, but politicians and bureaucrats anywhere should clean up after their own sh*t.

To truly save innocent people from some sort of catastrophe I would RISK my life. If you mean jumping into a vat of lava (certain doom) I just don't know.

It is being said that a lot of the reasons given for war are not the real reasons. If it's true that bankers are cooking up conflicts to further the interests of bankers then HELL F***ING NO. Let those pudgy pasty pieces of human filth get their own azzez shot off to enrich themselves. But no. They send poor kids right out of high school. The "cause" (that they dream up) is so critical to the survival of the US, but they don't send their own kids.

Well if they asked me too I'd be like "Hell no!" If I'm being honest my country has never done a goddamn thing for me.

However if it was like I was ALREADY on the mission (say I was in the army or something) and I had to sacrifice myself (say if I was disarming a bomb or something) then yeah. Sure.

But if my Government actually asked me to I'd tell them to go f#ck themselves.

Although I don't believe the OP meant it to be this is really a vague question. Are we talking country or government? Are we talking real suicide or just severe risk? Are we talking a multitude of lives, land, or resources as the ultimate goal?

I myself spent 6 years as a Marine. And anybody who was a Marine will tell you that they essentially signed a blank check with their lives. So my answer is yes--for all it's flaws I would risk my life to defend this country. Although I'm not sure I would want to risk it for a giant oil grab in the Middle East coupled with an inept President's unwarranted war ego----
