Right, because just becoming a Jedi doesn't require a ridiculous amount of training....

@Deranged Midget: depends on the Jedi...and on the wizard. Honestly I didn't make the thread as a "who would win" scenario, but rather who would you rather be and based on powersets, wizards can do a lot more.
Again that's all opinion based especially if you take into account the Star Wars EU, which a Jedi's skills are far more expanded upon than in the films.

Of course it does, but that training pays off more. Also to note, when has any wizard in battle really turned someone into a newt? I don't remember that ever really being demonstrated at all.

@Deranged Midget: Barty Crouch Jr., disguised as Alastor Moody turned Draco Malfoy into a Ferret. Same premise.
Wasn't in battle. I'm not saying it isn't possible for a Wizard to change someone, but I highly doubt a Jedi would stand still for the Wizard to do so.

@Deranged Midget: How would it be any different in battle except for the person would be trying to dodge? There would be exactly no difference other than that.
When Barty Crouch hit Malfoy, he wasn't going to defend against one his own teachers. (Teacher to his knowledge)
In battle, one would expect anything.

@Deranged Midget: In a Battle a Jedi has no means of stopping a spell except dodging it, given that it's not an area of effect spell.
True, but a Jedi does have precog which plays to their advantage.
i was gonna say wizard, but then harry potter wizards are kinda lame imo...compared to wizards we see in comics and what not i dont think any wizards in the harry pottery universe have any interesting feats...so jedi...they have telekinesis and melee skills...lol

Jedi, because Wizards and Harry Potter suck. "Expelliar-" "Force Choke. You're dead."Basically sums it up.
Force cho- ...oh wait I turned you into a newt.
Too bad I don't have to spew words out my mouth and swing my wand like an imbecile to actually do something worthwhile. And a Jedi wouldn't be standing still like a statue the entire time, so good luck :)
Jedi.
Also, AW SH!T!!! THIS JUST GOT TURNED INTO A BATTLE THREAD!!!
Wizard, way more practical implications. if my car breaks down, or if..pretty much anything breaks, I can literally fix it with one wave of a wand.
Wizard, since besides combat Jedi doesn't offer anything. Sure you can move things with your mind but you can't really use in day to day life.
Jedi
*waves hand* You want to have sex with me.
Bloody rapist!!

Bloody rapist!!
it's not rape since she wants to have sex with me.

There's a difference? Jedi are just space wizards. Still, I am siding with the Jedi because of the cool lightsaber.
That is a fine line to tread.
Anyway I thought you could pick being a random wizard but it's from the harry pot head universe so.........
Jedi
Y'all can start calling me Grand Master Eisenfauste.
Wizard, and it's not even close. A Jedi has tk, some precog and a light up sword. But a Harry Potter wizard can do damn near anything.
-Transmute matter, including people
-Teleport
-Use magic for TK
-Read Minds
-Control minds
-Break or mend material
-Control the elements
-Can kill by saying two words
Plus, if you exist in the HP world, you get access to magical items like flying cars, potions that can give you luck, love, immortality,Let you become someone else entirely, etc. A way to travel anywhere instantly with Portkeys and Floo Powder, Objects that can move and help you on their own. Brooms that let you fly.
That's just a bit of what a wizard life is like.
I think people are picking Jedi cause they like Star Wars more, but a wizard is just...better. Search your feelings , you know it to be true.
Wizard
Depends on what level Jedi or Wizard i would become.
If became a Jedi on par with Obi-Wan Kenobi (I know there are more powerful Jedi, but Obi-Wan is my favourite) but only a Wizard on par with Ron Weasley then i'm obviously going to choose to become a Jedi.
But if i became a Wizard on par with Dumbledore but only a Jedi on par with.....Medd Tendar then i'm obviously going to choose to become a Wizard.
Actually, the Imperius Curse works the same as Jedi Mind Trick, only it is more long lasting and can do more.
"An adequately Imperiused being is placed under the caster's total control and may be directed to do anything the caster wishes, including crimes such as murder, political corruption, embezzlement, and even suicide (as exposited by Barty Crouch, Jr., disguised as Alastor Moody and teaching the unforgivable curses to a group of Fourth year students at Hogwarts that included Harry Potter, where he explained "I could make her jump out a window, drown herself, or even launch herself down one of your throats"). Also, whilst under the caster's control, the curse may also endow the victim with whatever skills that are required in order to complete the task at hand, such as increased strength or allowing them to cast spells far above their level. For example, an Imperiused Neville Longbottom was able to perform a series of "quite astonishing gymnastics" under the curse that he would not normally be capable of.
It is possible for someone who has been Imperiused to place others under the curse as well. For example,Madam Rosmerta, who had been Imperiused by Draco Malfoy sometime during the 1996–1997 school year, was able to place Katie Bell under the Imperius Curse in an attempt to deliver a cursed necklace to Albus Dumbledore. It is also possible that the Death Eater Yaxley used the Imperiused Pius Thicknesse to place other high-ranking members of the Ministry of Magic under the curse in order to facilitate the overthrow of Rufus Scrimgeour"
