Poll Would Frozen have been better if Elsa was the villain? (23 votes)

Yes 35%
No 65%

Frozen, in my opinion, has got to be THE most overrated Disney flick around (still good, but has flaws). And personally, Hans was a terrible villain. His change came out of nowhere and was unnecessary. If Elsa was the villain, the story would certainly have much more depth to it.

But that's just my opinion, what do you guys think?

Wooh! Hey, the original plot of Frozen was that the White Queen (not yet named, but Elsa was used) is the evil sorceress of the land. But then developments have been present throughout the production then it went to something meaningful. ^^

Frozen has its own theme, making Elsa a villain wouldn’t necessarily serve a purpose. Not all story needs to have a powerful antagonist.

It’s a story about family, love, hope and above all else the bond between sisters. I think it's beautiful the way it is.

Yes.

I think what brought it down was the hype though.

Lion King still reigns supreme.

The only person making sense here.

What would have made me enjoy the film more? Getting rid of "Let it Go." I must have heard that song 10k times before I actually saw the movie, and I left for that scene because just no.

No. It would have continued to propagate the Disney cliche that (Older)Queens = EVIL, (Younger)Princesses = GOOD. What would have actually made the film better would have been sacrificing all the trolls and Olaf related scene to flesh out the sisters relationship. But you know Disney, the can't make a film without their "BUY SOME TOYS" type character.

I thought Elsa was the only interesting and realistic character, imo she carried the film. So no.

Frozen did not deserve it's level of success.

....and neither did The Lion King...

Jungle Book shouldn't even be mentioned in the same airspace as The Lion King!

I would have gave a pass for Beauty and the Beast, but Jungle Book?

No. As much as I loved Frozen, I personally think it would've been better with no villain at all and the main conflict could've just come from the situation Elsas powers put everybody through.

And besides, wasn't Frozens biggest selling points was that it subverts the classic Disney cliches (Love at First sight)? If Elsa was evil they would've had yet another typical Evil queen.

No, because then you're antagonizing the desires to break free of societal expectations and be who you really are. What would the moral of the story even be? That all problems can be avoided through conformity?

Hans was a terrible villain. His change came out of nowhere and was unnecessary.

Yeah, it's called a plot twist, Einstein. But I agree it was unnecessary. The movie could have done with no villain.

I still think it's the best animated movie since Toy Story 1, however. And perhaps the best Disney movie period.

I think Frozen was aptly rated, as a matter of fact people calling it overrated is overrated. originally they were gonna make her a villain , but changed it later on.

This was her original villain character design.

Would've been better if there wasn't so much damn singing. Otherwise it was fine the way it was. Not my type of film, but would've been better without so much singing. The first, what felt like, 20 minutes was nothing but singing.

Just because it's a plot twist doesn't necessarily make it good or creative.

Also, Frozen wouldn't be much better even if Elsa was a vilain. I really dislike Frozen and i find it VERY overrated. Elsa being a vilain could help but not by a big margin

That's a legitimate opinion but if anything saying that a plot twist came out of nowhere is a compliment.
