Superman 64

I'll download this to see if the legend is true.

@overlordargeist: Haven't played it myself, but DmC isn't a sequel to that series. It's a reboot, and was made by a completely different company. Dante is a young punk kid with black hair this time around.

Yeah I know about the black hair and other fan complaint but still giving it a go.

I hope this will not disappoint me like Breath of Fire in PS2.

@overlordargeist: It's way better than I thought it was going to be, and the reaction to the character changes were ridiculous and blown out of proportion. But it still doesn't hold a candle to any of the original DMCs (except maybe 2).

a game called love

@overlordargeist: Oh! One cool change they made though, is now their mom Eva was an angel. Meaning that Dante and Vergil are Nephilim, half angels/half demons. That actually defines 2 of the weapon sets you can use, and is a huge point that's made in the game. They're still sons of Sparda, and they're still half demon, but they're not human at all anymore, and them being Nephilim is what actually makes them special in this new game. I though it was a cool little change.

I would like to forget that one.

Interesting but no more. It will spoil the game for me. ;p

Not if you are on the receiving end. ;p

@overlordargeist: Sorry, I was being dumb. You find out very early in the game though.

@jaken7: No, I didn't know about any of the dlc stuff the first time because I wasn't using internet at the time for gaming.

Vanguards are high risk, what's the best way to use em?

#61 Edited by JakeN7 (15047 posts) - - Show Bio

@ostyo: A lot of the DLCs are integral to the story though, I remember dropping my jaw when a fellow Mass Effect fan/co-worker told me he hasn't played any of them because he torrents the games on PC. Lol

Yeah, they are. It's part of the fun. For ME3 especially you'll want to fit your whole play style around Biotic Charge. Equip yourself with shotguns and smgs. Choose any path when leveling up that increases your melee damage output. Vanguard is all about CQC. Charge in and blast 'em away. To keep a balanced squad I'd take a sniper or a soldier like Garrus/Javik/James/Ashley along with a support character like Tali/EDI. Having Liara with you instead and making a Biotic kill squad along with Kaiden/Javik is another option.

In ME1 and 2 mostly the same rules apply without the emphasis on Biotic Charge. The melee sucks in the first 2 games also, so you'll want to ignore that completely.

#62 Edited by Ostyo (12597 posts) - - Show Bio

@jaken7: Yeah, I learned the hard way. Hell, didn't even know you get two more squad mates from dlc in ME2 until long after I beat it. xD

So...don't use charge in the first two games?

#63 Posted by JakeN7 (15047 posts) - - Show Bio

@ostyo: And Kasumi's easily in my top 5 squadmates! I love her. Zaeed's great too, but he's not all that special. Another gruff, straight-talking merc. In 3 though, be sure to take Javik with you and Liara to Thessia. You'll get a whole new perspective on all those Asari artifacts this time around.

Yeah, I mean...there are much better powers, combinations, and strategies to use than charge in the first 2 games. 3 really gave it a buff, and it even had a dedicated button assigned to it. Your Vanguard in 1 and 2 is still going to be centered around CQC, but he/she's not going to be bum rushing everything all the time. It actually allows for more flexibility when selecting an efficient squad (something that's very important in 2 because you have so many squadmates to choose from, it's a lot better experience to choose the ones you want to take with you based on the context of the mission and the dialogue you'll expect to hear, rather than have to pick a squad based around what will support your play style and character the best).

@jaken7: I looking forward to recruiting them then.

Cool, I like and prefer when a class offers that type of flexibility.

Bubsy 3D on PS1...

#67 Posted by MonsterStomp (25414 posts) - - Show Bio

I don't really buy bad games. I look into them beforehand. Although, my most disappointing game would have to be Need For Speed: Most Wanted (2012).

@jaken7: My expectations were set at least to the standards Most Wanted was back in the days. Instead there is no plot, can't customize cars etc. It was a lot of fun no doubt. One time I was desperate to win a race, quarter mile left, car way out in front, I caught up, smashed into a corner and just flipped to the finish line coming first! Was memorable.

Transformers revenge of the fallen. You could only transform after powering up and it was more of a "power" that got used up quickly rather than an alt mode. I got through about 2 minutes of it.

#71 Posted by JakeN7 (15047 posts) - - Show Bio

@monsterstomp: Ah, I gotcha. Yeah it wasn't real great in terms of car porn and customization options, but it was pretty much fun incarnate.

What's your favorite racing game?

#72 Posted by MonsterStomp (25414 posts) - - Show Bio

@jaken7: Original Most Wanted :)

You?

#73 Posted by JakeN7 (15047 posts) - - Show Bio

@monsterstomp: Need for Speed Underground 2 for the PS2. Incredible soundtrack, fun racing mechanics, over-the-top customization options, all wrapped up in a nice nostalgia tortilla.

^_^

That Big Rigs game, I played an arcade version of it was almost as bad as the home release.

@jaken7 Definitely get the re-release of 8 for the ps4. They bumped up the graphics, added all the dlc from last gen version and a ton of new stuff. Easily the best DW since 3.

Silver Surfer was awesome, nice to actually find a moderately challenging game

Game's that I hate, hmmmm, Fantasia on Mega Drive was pretty awful, ET was confusing as heck.

Great Gurianos on ZX Spectrum was literally impossible to beat, the programmer ran out of time so he made one of the bosses have infinite health so that people wouldn't realise the game was unfinished!

@ostyo: Depends on which Shepard I'm playing and in which game. But my main Shepard is an Adept in ME3 if that helps. Lol.

If I had to rank the classes it'd probably go:

Adept

Vanguard

Sentinel

Infiltrator

Engineer

Soldier

Soldier's actually great for an Insanity ME2 playthrough, but overall I hate it.

I love Soldier. Always been a gun guy and prefer 'tank' type characters.
My Multiplayer class is N7 Destroyer. :)

I agree with you so much, man.
The old-school NFS games were so awesome. I could spend all day customizing cars; everything from engines and turbochargers to body-kits and decals. The could spend hours doing that.

The dislike the way current NFS games are going. :(

Worst? Sneak King.

Too Human. I spent ten minutes watching a cutscene until I finally got the menu to start the game. I played for maybe 3 minutes before taking the disc out.

Honorable mention goes to Superman 64, but that game is so bad it's awesome.

Exactly, it's the default Shepard class. It's what he's meant to be, imo.

Hehe! But this is my favorite class from Multiplayer

The Ultimate Tank!

Watchmen. Based on the movie.
Ugh. It was so bad! Who thought this game was good and releashed it?

#88 Posted by JakeN7 (15047 posts) - - Show Bio

@darkazrael999: And my favorite is the Pheonix Adept!

See, we've just got 2 different play styles.

Is N7 Destroyer really more of a tank than the Krogan classes?

Runescapefor a while.. then i encountered Maplestory -_-

dunno how it stands currently but i know in it's infancy leveling was the most mind-numbly monotonous grinding nightmare i've ever experienced. i spent a week straight on with my level 44 bandit and eventually just said "F#$@ this"... and i wasn't even employed or in school at the time.

#91 Posted by iaconpoint (1382 posts) - - Show Bio

@avenging_x_bolt: Either ps2 or 3. I actually cannot remember. Pretty sure it was 2. Horrid game, worse than the actual movie.

Superman 64, worst game ever.

#96 Posted by MrDirector786 (43767 posts) - - Show Bio

Bubsy 3D. That's the only game I've ever played that actually made me physically ill. The visuals strained my eyes and I actually got a headache from playing. Superman 64 didn't even do that to me. Though, Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) actually did come close to giving me a headache at times.

As a side note, as someone who has played both Superman 64 and Sonic 06, I actually hate Sonic 06 more though I will say that Superman 64 is objectively worse.

Ive played thousands of games in my days but I dont think ive ever come across one that doesnt have its charms once you get the hang of it. Particularly many of the older NES or Commodore game could be kinda crappy, but mostly that was because they were so incredibly hard and you got no info at all, so half of the times you didnt know what you were supposed to do unless you were lucky enough to know someone who had played it more then you had, or a guide. I tend to shun away from mindless war games, CS, CoD and such, due to the lack of story and the fact that the gameplay style isnt very enjoyable to me, but even those mentioned games can be fun at certain times.

Im sure there's some really shit game out there that I just cant come up with right now, but most of the bad ones I didnt give a proper chance so who knows.

The one that comes to mind is Halo 3 (never played any others)....I was so disgusted by it, that the next day I sold my Xbox360....(After I had played the only exclusive that mattered on that machine:" Lost Odyssey"...)
