The first time I benched was my sophomore year in high school(I started my second year of college now), and I lifted 185 with no help. I haven't tried maxing out since then. Lol. I also used to lift 160 for incline but that was just one summer my junior/senior year in high school. I've altogether stopped working out sadly..
WORKOUT PROGRESS THREAD

@comicace3: I'd love too man, but whenever I have time, I don't have the energy. Lol. Or motivation. More like a combination of the two haha
@wolverine08: It's all good. I bought some whey today, and I was thinking about doing creatine but I'm hesitant on starting it.
@comicace3: What kind of excercises? I've been wanting to at least run, but I can't even do that. Lol
@i_like_swords: well how much do you weigh?
I just started lifting recently, but I only use dumbbells since it's the only thing availible. Goin for those gains brah. Sadly, money is an inhibiting factor, but nothing shall stop me from achieving!
@jayc1324: About 168, 6'2
@i_like_swords: Well as wolverine08 said, benching your weight on your first try would be very impressive, but if you're just average, you'd probably be able to put up 135 or 145 pounds.
I did 135 my first time.
@stormdriven: If you could come up with 30 bucks I'd invest in a pull up bar. Push ups pull ups and freehand squats can do wonders. How heavy are your dumbells?
@comicace3: So much work....alright man I'll start something then post back here after them gainz. Haha
@stormdriven: If you could come up with 30 bucks I'd invest in a pull up bar. Push ups pull ups and freehand squats can do wonders. How heavy are your dumbells?
I use the Bowflex Select Tech 552 dumbbells
@stormdriven: How heavy are they?
@stormdriven: How heavy are they?
The weight can be adjusted, from 5 to 52.5 pounds
@stormdriven: You can definitely make progress.
On my school track we had to sprint 6 laps. I lapped everyone in our class but two people who I was only a few feet off from beating them.
After taking a year off I'm down to low 190s. At my peak when I still lifted I was around 220ish. RIP in peace gains.
I workout differently than most of the guys on here it seems. Basically, I'm an athletic/competitive runner and plan on finally participating in a team sport next year (soccer - or I prefer to call futbol due to my Hispanic ancestry lol). I'm great at sprinting short distance and running long distance. I don't workout for major strength and muscular gains. I workout mainly to develop cardiovascular endurance, lower body strength, and core.
Not necessarily so far concerned about my upper body build and strength. Due to excess muscle mass on this portion of the body would slow you down and drain your stamina during a run/sprint. Furthermore, the more muscle mass you had, the more energy and oxygen is required for the muscles to do their thing. Along with the fact muscle is denser than fat and possessing excess muscle on the upper body, it appears to weigh you down during a run/sprint. Thus you begin slowing down.
Now don't get me wrong, I still workout my upper body and still have an above average level of strength for a person. I ever so rarely lift heavy weights. For upper body workouts, I mainly just lift light to moderate weight dumbbells, close grip pushups, chin-ups, pull-ups, and shoulder presses. So there's not really any bench presses or any of that sort of upper body training I implement into my traditional workouts.
I work my lower body, cardio, core, and agility the hardest for the sake of my agile/running ability. For instance, I implemented dumbbell squats, jumping squats, sitting against wall (forgot what it's called), leg presses, jogging long distance, lunges, burpees, sprints, leg raises, plank forms, balance, crunch forms, etc. As well as I do T25 when times are tough or didn't feel my workout was enough.
Therefore I've obtained a highly agile athleticism and shredded core. If I had to describe my physique, my upper body is lightly built yet nicely toned. My core is shredded and legs are tough and well built. You would also notice the obvious low body fat percentage (you can barely feel or see the fat lol).
Though I'll admit, some of y'all are stronger than me as I don't lift that heavy, but let's see how well you fare against me running half a marathon and sprinting 400 meters *evil laugh*
@thevivas: Here:
For only 25 minutes so GET IT DONE lol
I personally own the program. It's tougher than it looks and sounds TRUST ME. Fortunately, you will be done before you know it :)
Well everyone is talking about benching, does anyone deadlift or squat?
I try to do a bit of everything. Curls, bench, deadlift, military press and squat. Too much of one thing tends to imbalance yourself and make it easier to get injuries imo. Plus building a strong core makes most of the other lifts easier also. If you want to gain strength and mass its pretty much a must to do a variety of exercises.
Well everyone is talking about benching, does anyone deadlift or squat?
Yeah, I do squats for my sprinting/running/jumping ability.
Potato chips, ice cream, and coca cola are my chums for life. I'm perfectly fine with dying at 30 years.
@thegreatvampirekillerx: *slow claps*
@comicace3: What?
It was a compliment
@thegreatvampirekillerx: Gonna need a time stamp as proof for all those gainz.
@thitiki: Huh? I took the pictures on my phone or my photographer took them. I don't remember when
I intend to reach 150Ib by the time of football season ( playing safety)
Max- 185
Squat- 365
Power Clean- 205
Hang Clean- 185
You worked out so hard that you turned black?
I'm 13 and I can do 130as opposed to my 110 at te begining of this year.
I think I'm coming along well-ish. I'm only 5'5 and 125 lbs. So Id say I'm doing okay.
And I can't brag much. Compared to a lot of my friends who also play football with me im kinda weak :/. Mostly cuz they're mostly all approaching 6 ft by now, but eh.
Good thing I found this thread! THANK YOU FOR IT!
