A woman was arrested and charged with manslaughter after killing a man because he called her ugly, according to court proceedings in Virginia.
Now, Barbara Banks of Richmond, pleaded guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter in court on Thursday.
Banks testified that she fatally stabbed Keon J. Robinson because he called her ugly and proceeded to slap her repeatedly.
The stabbing occurred on February 9 at 1:00 p.m.
Banks told Richmond Police that she first met Robinson when she left the apartment of a friend. Robinson slapped her in the back of the head and called her ugly as she passed him.
Moments later, Robinson hit her again and continued to insult her. The alcohol content in Robinson’s blood was three times the legal limit at the time of the assault.
Banks said that after being hit by Robinson for the second time, she went back into her friend’s apartment and grabbed a knife.
Banks said that when she returned Robinson hit her again.
"At that point I had enough. I stabbed Robinson in the chest," Banks said.
Although the stab wound was only an inch deep, Banks pierced Robinson’s main artery. He bled to death at the scene.
Banks admitted to police that she was looking for revenge when she stabbed Robinson.
