I think so...I can see NASA getting booked for trips to the moon. Forget Paris...I'd rather float in space!

I don't think that the NASA will ever do that.

Yeah but if there are private firms, It would be the same as the Tourism we have today only with more destinations and more technology.

@black_arrow: There are tours for the white house and other government places. Money would go to the program. It's a win for them.

If I had the opportunity to go to the moon then it would probably be a one time trip...I mean what is there to look at? Rocks? What is there to do? Kick rocks?

Screw that...I'd much rather go on vacation here on earth where there are things to do

@xcalibur: ' space tourism' . It's still tourism. But As for earth tourism, which I figured you meant, I mean it's hard to tell. It's probably gonna be super expensive so only the rich people could probably go the first like 10 years or so, if not longer. If the economy changes than maybe more people could go.

They maybe do it but It would only be for extremely rich people because the costs to go to the Moon would be very high. If the cost were lower Private companies would make trips to the moon so there would be tourism like there is today only with more destinations and better technology. Also the moon isn't a Government place so other private companies would do the same that the Nasa would do.

It will be too expensive to take a trip into space for anyone except the 1% to do so. The average shmuck will continue to tour Paris and New York.

Only when the Moon has Bars, Hookers, Drugs and Casinos. So until Space Casinos, Space Hookers, Space Weed and Space Bars are a thing then people will always want to go to some foreign country to do those things and maybe some sightseeing of really old museums, shapely geographic features and jumping off cliffs with cord attached to feet.

Or another way you can look at it is Earth has plenty of destinations, people generally prefer going to a lot of them even if one or two are their favorite. So its a bit like asking if tourism would collapse if planes existed since everyone would go to one location but its more likely that people would use that technology to go lots of places. By the time Moon and Orbit tours get cheap transport technology will probably allow for people to travel countries in a fifth of the time as current if not even faster boosting tourism.

Extraterrestrial tours will just be a part of the tourism industry. I think terrestrial and domestic tourism will still go strong though.

No...And not because of the high price (it will be pretty expensive)...

What does the moon have? When I have the chance to go to a summer paradise here on earth for a much more reasonable price...

If they were sending people up there they would probably build things upon it as well.

No, it would cost so much I don't imagine people could readily afford it.

Why would I pay for a flight in a can to space, when I can use that money to tour Europe?
