Will Obama be re-elected in 2012?
@Night Thrasher: Hey, Republicans aren't perfect...in fact alot of 'em suck.... which is why I still think we need to make the system more people-controlled. Putting a contry in the hands of some of these Democrats/Republicans is hurting the country. George Washington was right when he said that there shouldn't be any parties...it only makes things harder, b/c both parties are just trying to bite at each other all the time. So I say screw parties! Let the people have more power in deciding!
and just on the side, I'm not against immigration. That's what America's all about...it's how we got started... I just think if someone's gonna immigrate they should do it legally and become citizens. It's just illegal immigration that's causing problems now.

Thank you ;) at long last someone understands where I'm coming from lol....I'm just a middle class guy, I think/believe everyone should work for their families, themselves and their future/children's future....not for some random bum that chooses to live off others and try to get a free ride...As far as I'm concerned but to me that's retarded...
@Noose, guys can discuss abortion just because we have umm winky's doesn't mean we can't have a view on it...I knew a guy who had a GF that was pregnant, she got an abortion behind his back...he was crushed....but anyhow yeah, no need to go into that. You feel how you feel, I feel how I feel. Everyone sees this from a different perspective apparently...
@luna, to each his own my friend. Sometimes choices are rather dull but at the end of the day we always have a choice. I would probably even consider at times no voting if the choices were THAT bad...lol but that's yet to happen, and god knows if you don't vote, you can't complain...I have a friend who does that...I tell him, look dude you didn't go out there and vote either way so don't bitch lol..
" @Sylver: Nobody's perfect... but striving for perfection should be the driving force in our political system. What the Republicans are doing isn't even trying. Saying "no" to everything isn't a political policy, it's a ploy for power. Ploys for power don't effect the politics, it effects the people. Our system works, believe it or not, when used properly. What the Republicans are doing is spitting in the face of the people. We elected these officials, they represent what we put them in office for, saying that the Democrats are wrong about everything is saying the People are wrong about everything. Don't get me wrong Democrats aren't the answer to everything or maybe not most things, but at least they are trying to fix problems instead of sitting on their hands. "you can't really believe that, can you?
" @Night Thrasher said:Honestly yes, I believe that the Democrats have actually proposed solutions to our nation's problems, good or bad solutions. The Republicans have every right to disagree, every right to shoot down proposals as long as they have solutions of their own. Just saying "no" isn't a solution, it's a roadblock on the highway of democracy. You can't just say "no" and be done with it. Say "no" and be done with it. You need to bring something to the table, and the GOP hasn't." @Sylver: Nobody's perfect... but striving for perfection should be the driving force in our political system. @Night Thrasher:
Trust me dude... Democrats aren't just trying to "fix" things. And Republicans aren't just trying to "stop things and gain power". I don't mean to sound rude, but that's a very narrow minded point of view.
Most (but not all) of the republicans are against the democrats b/c many of the democrats in higher power are expanding government and taking power from the people. Now granted, some republicans are like that too... which I repeat, we shouldn't be relying this much on government. We should be more of a republic. That's what we should be striving for. We can do in our own ways what we can to help one another, but a perfect government where everyone shares is not an option...not with the way people are today. A hard working middle-class person is not going to want to work themselves silly just so some of his paycheck can go to a jobless bum who'll spend his money on drink or drugs. I know I wouldn't want that to happen.
Capitalism is here so everyone can strive for their own earnings and make a life. It's a freedom we're lucky to have. More control of government never solved anything. Just ask Russia and China. Or even the socialism governments of Europe. They may be prospering some...but they'd do alot better if the people had more of a chance to help themselves.
The only thing I've seen Obama do so far is repeal basically every bill that President Bush worked hard to put in place. The one that ticks me off the most is that he repealed the bill that said no money would go to the UN for abortion. I say that was a good bill. If other countries wanna kill kids, than they can do it with their own money. We have enough debt; we should worry about our own problems.
The President isn't perfect, but neither are most people in either party. The only thing I look for when watching the political debates and acts is which person is more interested in helping the common person by not holding him down with bills , taxes, and licences for every darn thing. The Constitution created a government that was only suppose to govern the people and give them the most opportunities to help themselves. Government was not meant to be a crutch for those not willing to work or for those who want more power.
BTW... You have no idea what a socialist country is do you? Russia, China are Communist. In a Socialist system you get to keep your profits but the government decides on prices. For example if your a farmer, and your chief product is corn, the government will decide that corn is worth $X and that's what you sell it at. So if you have Y amount of land and your corn is selling at $X then your profit is $Z. It doesn't work that way in Russia and China, the government decides X,Y, and Z for you. In Communism their isn't really a supply or demand, the government is basically buyer and seller. In a Socialism, government regulates but doesn't control supply and demand. Meaning the price of corn is controlled but not how much corn.

" @Lunacyde said:" I think we need to completely forget party logic if we are going to actually achieve anything. "Give this man a medal! "
here here! :-) a big, shiny metal!
@Night Thrasher: I don't know everything about goverment types, but I know enough that having a republic-democracy is better than anything else at the moment. People have a right to work for their money, set their prices, and get their money. The government gets enough through taxes.
I agree, it does seem as though the Democrats are the only ones with ideas and the Republicans do nothing but bicker...and that is sometimes the case, but what we learn from the news is mainly liberally controlled. You'll never hear much about any good Republican ideas b/c the media doesn't focus on that.
And yes, the Bush admininstration didn't do much. I don't believe Mr. Bush was a fantastic president...but he wasn't the worst. Those in the senate often kept him from putting his ideas into actions. Why? Because they were of different parties. I honestly don't give a crap what party people are in...nobody in either party usually gives a crap about us either. All the Republicans do is fight the Democrats b/c they're Democrats, and all the Democrats do is fight the Republicans b/c they're Republicans. It's a pointless circle and no one's going go give in...and the sad part is that they're doing it out of blind purpose.
Argueing about this is stupid. That's all people ever do, and it doesn't do a darn bit of good. I believe what I believe and you believe what you believe, but nothing will be resolved if no one does anything. The people in office need to hear our opinions. That's the only thing that can hopefully change this mess.
I honestly don't like alligning myself with any party b/c people tend to sterotype you based on your party. I don't know what's going to happen to the government, but I do what I can to change the things that should be. Other than that, it's all up to God.

You really need to start talking directly MKF30. He's lonely and needs a female penpal closer to his age. :(
Should America be ran as a true democracy, like on a pirate ship? One man one vote? Would that get things solved faster, or make things more chaotic?

Cumon, Pete! Don't be shy. It seems like the only woman here that you speak politics with is me. But then again with all the goofy handles, it's really hard to tell who's a man and who's a woman.
At least that one thing that we both can be sure of...we both know which sex we are. ; )

lol, yeah I think only a sicko or gay person would pose as the opposite sex(which is usually the case anyway haha) on the internet.
...Oh, and Barack Obama is a comic book character.
@Roxanne Starr: That's scarey...why's he get to be a comic character? I think Reagan should be. He was cool. :-)
@MKF30: haha glad to agree with the smart people on here. Oh, and I'm not from Europe. ;-)
But I wouldn't mind travelling there. Alot of neat-o historic sites, and I love history.
Obama is a comic book character already, Caligula! Don't you remember that Spiderman comic he appeared in? Nixon was on a Spiderman comic cover too recently (a variant). But I don't know of Reagan ever appearing in or on a comic." he should be. he deserves it "
You can't say something like this and follow it up with no offense because it's offensive.I was a college student in '08 and in fact I still am.I voted for Barack Obama and felt I had good reason to...and if if the next person they put him up against doesn't campaign on things I agree with like McCain failed to do.I'm not voting for them. There is no lesson to be learned as far as I can see.The country was a mess before he got in and it's still a mess and I think if McCain was in office it would be the exact same thing.Aside from the fact that someone who obviously isn't intelligent (Sarah Palin) would have been our vice president. She doesn't even know what the VP does....I felt Obama was the right way to go." I think that in the 2012 elections, most of the stupid college students that voted for him in 2008 ( no offense ) will learn there lesson and not vote for him again. "
"When you become owner of the worst garbage dump in town and start trying to clean things up, people will still complain that it's the worst garbage dump in town and it's all your fault. "
Dude, exactly. Thank you, I mean that's an interesting way of saying it, but i'm so tired of people blaming Obama for a country that was driven to sh!t for 8 years prior.
Sarah's I.Q. may not be as high as Barack's, but at least she isn't the handpuppet of Nancy Pelosi.

She needed a president with followers and co-conspirators like Obama's to bride in order to ram though socialized medicine and a lot of other garbage. She had that stuff in the works years before anyone had even heard of Obama.
Oh, and BTW... all a president has is a veto pen. It is Congress that creates the law of the land.

If some goofy comic book company (it would have been Marvel, not doubt) had done a comic about him, I don't think it would have made him happy.
But I think that Nixon appeared in at least one comic when he was president.
