Why not Man Lara Croft?

Characters are a blank state for the players to do things, taking that they are non important, why has Lara Croft to be a female?

I dont get it.

Is mysogenistic and reinforces the patriacal values on the society, watching that Lara Croft is a men would reinforce the values that your gender doesnt matter, even if he has a pair of gonads and a penis, he can be a female, since gender is a social construct that impose impossible standards to females, like having a vagina and XX chromosome and its time to end the xy chromosome privilege.

Who says a female cant have a beard, testicles and penis, that is womb envy, that is the envy that men feel because they dont have a womb and cant create life alone like women can, the heteropressive state should understand this and accept that gay people is dealing with this to and we should help them, more if they are POTC and worst if they are "disable".

Lara Croft not only should be a man, it should be afroamerican and in a wheel chair, at least they should give you the option.

Because she is not an rpg character and is not meant to be a blank state character and instead tell a story and was created to give female representation while also being sexually exploited because male are the majority of video game player.

You don't change a character's gender all of a sudden how would you feel if someone comes and tell you to change your gender.

And there are male counterparts of lara I.e Nathan Drake and good ol indie.

Lara is a fixed character, with a personality and stuff. Some characters it is arguable that a gender change would not affect them at all, for example Luke Skywalker, who is a generic Jedi. These are known as Gender neutral characters.

Also Lara Croft as a character is as much as an avatar as any fictional character, taking she is a female generic copy of Indiana Jones, is more easy to make her a man, that making Indiana Jones a woman.

Luke was our introduction to an actual Jedi for realz. His role and such was BIG, but his personality and things like that would not really change if his gender was swapped.

When you think about it, she is pretty generic, like Nathan Drake, they're just regular treasure hunters, really.

BAHT, the have their own little story, they were expanded on as characters, not necessarily in-game. A real gender neutral character is not like that. They CAN have their own story, but it needs to not change with the gender switch. Can you see that happening?

Lara is a sex symbol/style icon, you can't really have a male Lara because the appeal would be for a different group.

Nathan isn't really a male Lara, sure they have the same job but those games are far more fleshed out in character development. Tomb Raider was more gameplay focused.

Character. The fact that they are given such weaving and complex stories outside and inside game do not make them gender neutral.

A game like the Minecraft focuses ONLY on gameplay, there is no complex plot or story happening, and that is why you can change gender and play as several people, because the lack of a story (this is not the only way to be gender neutral) means that anyone you play as will have absolutely ZERO effect on the game AND the story.

Is that honestly the case for Tomb Rader? The gameplay is quite gender neutral, but the character is not. Note that I am not against it happening, I would just need a feasible explanation (like a parallel universe with Flashpoint-like events that slightly shift story events.)

and besides, like several people mentioned, Larry CAN happen but it's completely unnecessary. It would be highly criticized for insulting the existence of Nathan Drake.
