Why is green lantern so weak?

I was watching this and It shows Green Lantern vs Superman and Superman was thrashing him.

He only appears weak because he's going against Superman.

Almost everyone looks weak when going against Superman.

You never go full power against friends, back then he can stimulate kryptonite radiation with his ring

Isn't that putting it a bit much?
Hal Jordan was very much capable of thrashing Supes Pre-52. So were a lot of people.

Because he's a rookie green lantern fighting superman

I dont count the Justice League arc canon. Imo. well not so much non-canon but not really feat wise. Hal is a rookie, Superman is definitely out of character.

@allstarsuperman: He wasn't really out of character IMO. Seems like the same Superman from Morrison's action comics

Is getting beat up by Superman really a sign of weakness? That's kind of like saying a boxer is weak for being mauled by a bear.

Green Lantern isn't weak, Superman is just really, really strong.

Is being able to beat down Superman really the standard test of strength now, cause if so literally 90% of all fictional characters that aren't gods or cosmic entities would be considered weak.
