Just asking.
Why is 16 wrong?
In my absolutely personal opinion: if you're over 25-30, even going after an 18 year old is kind of creepy. I don't need a law to tell me that 16 year olds are not all the way ripe (giggity) compared to someone closer to my own age (20). But to each their own. Attraction to a 16 year old is only immoral because society says it is. Biologically speaking, you should be attracted to any mate that is of reproductive fitness and age. At the same time, the environmental influence of living in a society with such specific sexual rules has resulted in a near automatic lack of attraction for "jail bait."
Cause they're still a minor.
In the US. The age of consent here in New York is actualy 17, and I plan to take full advantage of that for a few more years. NYS stautory law is complex and has a lot of loopholes.
And 17-18 is such a drastic difference? It's not like its 8 years old. I realize full well it's illegal, but what's the logic?
If its an 18 year old wanting to get with a 16 year old I don't see a problem with it because really an 18 isn't really much more mature than a 16 year old but once someone is in their 20s going after high school girls is just sleazy
17 isn't legal in most places(not sure if anywhere at all in america), and 17 year olds are still part of the 1-3 year laws where they can't be with someone who is 1-3 years older than them depending on the state.
18 is legal although still young and foolish, but people need to be considered adults at some point... They should be smart/mature enough to take care of themselves by then unless they're a lost cause.
16 year olds are kids... the logic is pretty obvious, if you really didn't grow up a lot between 16-18 that's your fault... There are actual parts of your brain that don't finish maturing until 18.
@teerack: 17 is legal in Indiana so long as no one involved is over 21
Who said it was wrong?
Just kidding, anyway technically you aren't fully matured until ~25. That is when your neocortex (responsible for reasoning, perception, conscious thought, etc.) is just about fully developed.

I agree with most of this.
Here in Cali, it's 18...although me being 19, I feel uber-creepy looking at girls who are 17- in that way.
It's actually surprising, but a lot of states laws are 16, with rules.
