Why does poetry even exist?

Seriously, it is the language of hipsters and pseudo intellectuals, especially "smart" black people, who love poetry slams. The only thing it seems to be good for is to impress women, as I will use for just that.

Didn't read the OP.. But poetry is made to express ones feelings or interpret things in a creative way with the use of words or speech. Poetry is often used in rap with lyrical rhyme schemes, but there are many different forms.

Unfortunately no. I have a research assignment worth 80% of my grade in a class, due Monday... I'm about 90% done, but looking through every avenue for a way to procrastinate. lol
