This is Teofilo Stevenson, one of the greatest boxers of all time. He has a record of 302 wins and 22 losses. He's also one of the 3 only boxers to get 3 Olympic Gold medals. Not only was this man better than Muhammad Ali, but he was also a very patriotic person, refusing one million dollars to fight Muhammad Ali himself because he felt it would be as if he was selling out his own country. Why isn't this man talked more about? Even after his death people still seem to praise Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson (both whom I respect and praise as well) yet seem to ignore Teofilo Stevenson.
Why does nobody ever talk about Teofilo Stevenson?
Because I had to google him.
Waitaminute...I don`t follow sports.
Anyway, seems like a cool character. Hopefully I`ll remember him.
I think it was becuase he fought his whole career as an ametuer. Amateur sports and athletes in general tend to get overlooked by their professional counterparts. Not denying he was agreat boxer and athlete, but he fought mostly no names. To be honest, i dont think he could have beaten ali, foreman, or norton in their primes.Sorry, meant to say frazier instead of norton.
