He's one of the worst actors in the history of cinema. I have never seen him act well. Even when he's in an awesome movie he still sucks. And for some reason he's been continuously put in films for decades. Can someone please explain to me what the hell Hollywood sees in him?
Why does Ben Affleck keep getting hired?
Eh, he hasn't been in a major blockbuster since Armageddon, so I don't see where the animosity comes from. There are far worse actors.
Surprisingly enough, he's a fantastic writer/director. Gone Baby Gone and The Town are easily two of my favorite modern crime films.

Happy to see this was brought up. I haven't seen Gone Baby Gone, but all of his work was great in The Town.
Gone Baby Gone is superior to The Town, in my opinion. Much grittier, much better writing, and much, much more interesting characters.
Meh, Guy Richie films are all the same. Yeah I said it.@k4tzm4n: Cool. Still haven't seen that one myself.

Haha! True. Lock Stock is just Snatch with a bit of sepia colouring in it.
The Town was easily better then Armageddon. Cheesy sh!t it was. But the Town and Afleck delivered. Props to him.

Dude did you not see The Town or even Chasing Amy? Given his directing is far superior to his acting. He is even supposed to be directing the new version of The Stand. Just thinking about that movie gives me a big rubbery one.
A NEW version of The Stand????

Yesss! It's supposed to come out sometime next year. I assume you've seen the made for TV movie that was made back in 94'?
Yeah I've seen the '94 version but this new one is big screen? I can't see how they will condense it lol.

@Andromeda_: Pshhhhhhh, she's in the movie for like 40 seconds.
Okay, maybe a little more, but you get my point.
Or, if we want to Boston up that statement:
Psahhhhhhhhhh, she's in tha movie fah like, 40 seconds.
Gambler posts the video of her every now and then to piss me off. I've honestly never even seen the movie.
I could go on for pages (hyperbole) about Boston accents and how they're terribly abused in movies.
I live about 45 minutes to an hour outside of Boston and have my entire life. It kills me, absolutely KILLS me when people slaughter the accent in movies, especially when it's not even necessary, as not everybody from Boston speaks like that.
Case in point is Vera Farmiga in The Departed, who can't decide what the hell accent she actually wants to use and the other half of the time, doesn't even use it.
Ugh.
Because he's a gifted director. I mean, did you see the Town? Christ, that movie was awesome.
And for the record, Chasing Amy and Goodwill Hunting are two of my favorite movies of all time, so he can act and write as well.

I'm one of those guys that likes to pick apart movies, but I've honestly never had a problem with Afflec's acting. I wouldn't give him any awards, but I don't think he sucks. I'd say he's about average for Hollywood.
THis pretty much.
@Ohgawd: If you want bad actors look at john cena channing tatum. and theres plenty of them, Ben is not one of them.

Your grasp on the truth continues to astound me, babe. <3
Seriously, he's a mediocre actor, but a brilliant writer.
