Why do ppl shack up/have premarital sex?

Sex should only become important in marriage, because unless you're married you aren't really in a " committed" relationship. Shacking up is also just foolish to me because you're basically just playing house at best and getting a free booty call at worst. Now, if you're helping someone out by letting them crash with you for a while and it's platonic, that's different.

Also, studies show that shacking up before marriage is more like to result in divorce anyway, which if you ask me is because the people didn't really understand marriage to begin with and just saw it as a casual "next step" like they're evolving freakin pokemon or something. So really what the crap is the point? This is not a troll thread, just curious.

People do so because they are attracted to each other, they want to have an ongoing relationship and it's now socially acceptable.

If both people are of legal age, and are safe, I don't see the problem with premarital sex.

As for moving in with each other, im not sure. Its a way to get closer to that person, plus its kind of like a taste of what it would be like to be married to that person.

One of my ex girlfriends wanted me to find an apartment that we could rent and live in together but I thought we needed to wait a little longer lol

Marriage is a religious act. If you're not a religious person, are you not suppose to have sex for your entire life?

Moreover, even if you are a religious person, if you commit to sharing your life with one person and you don't know if you have good sexual chemistry before hand - you are going into it without all the information. It would be stupid to do so imo.

Why not? If you doing right, why you cant have sex until the mariage.

Not everyone feels quite as strongly about marriage

1. Because sex feels good.
2. Marriage is pointless in my opinion. If you want to be with somebody be with them.
3. Because sex feels good.

@gjgp27: I know people who moved in together AFTER they got married, and they now hate each other because of the small tiniest day to day habits that come with the territory lol. how a person acts when they wake up, how they act when they get home from work, how they react to small things that went un noticed because at the time they weren't together all the time. It's quite amusing to see. Especially to the high and mighty people.

I went to church and even the pastor said "just because you move in together doesn't mean you have to have sex. Moving in together on a trial period at least is a smart responsible thing to do, why would you not?"

I also know people who have been together for 30+ years who are not married, I have seen them happier and out last people who are married and stay married, because it's "the right thing to do" but then make everyone miserable around them because they are stuck in a bland horrible marriage with someone they dislike

Actually you only said "premarital sex" That is not the same as casual sex, as I said above I know people who have been together for several years to 30+ who are not married, that's not very casual, it seems pretty committed to me. They just didn't involve the "law". And that's what it is, government related, you need a marriage license, taxes, funds, how much you pay, banking, benefits everything is associated with being married or not married.

OH one last thing to add, people who say things like "studies show that...." are missing the point entirely. Do stuff because you morally think it's the right choice, you should be able to determine if you are being mature, without looking at a pie chart, but that's people problems. Sheep. Go tell your facts to people who have been together for a decade without being married
