I think a few people have posted this, but I doubt its a dead issue or ever will be. So I'm on Comic Vine and I'm posting in a thread...Shout out to Scifi_Rulez (I see you homey) ... It's about who the best rapper of all time is and while people are casting their votes one dude comes in and makes a remark about the genre as a whole. And then when asked does he even listen to it , he says "I don't listen to Rap I listen to real music" Then why are you here?
I don't know if it's just me or have other people ever run into this. I notice that female readers might get crap on boards for being in a male dominated medium (Probably for not giving the dudes on there the time of day) or people of color will have to defend characters of color in the face of racist rants in white dominated medium. I'm not sure where this comes from with folks who are fans of comics but it's stupid... you yourself are a minority based on what you like (Possibly not in other ways though.) But How are you gonna down or just plain try to insult people who don't fit your homogenous view of what comics or its fans should be, but guess what? Sh!t ain't gonna change. I just had to get that off my chest. Holla
Why are so many comic fans jerks?
Same people saying rap is for ignorant and dumb people are watching ignorant and dumb shows like South Park. I dislike double standard-ers.
It's not just comic fans, people in general are kinda jerky. And yeah, I don't get why people come on genre specific threads just to add hate.

Congratulations, you have socialized with people on the Internet.
Pretty much this. Heck, I'd even argue that most people in general are jerks, and are just more open about it online because the person they're being rude too can't punch their teeth down their throat.
This is why peope are jerks on the internet. It isn't just comic book nerds, my friend. It's a lot of people.
The truth is people are insecure and want to convince everyone around them that they are intelligent. They try doing this by imposing their "knowledge" on to other people. And it is easy to do that on the internet where someone can't physically harm you for being an ass.
My advice to you and everyone is to ignore it and they will stop, if you feed into it then you begin an argument which only furthers their opportunity to tell you why you are wrong.
My mission when i started to post on this site like a week ago ( ive always been a reader but just now started posting ) was to be nice to my fellow comic book lovers and engage in healthy and funny conversation.
Thats why my power level isn't over 9000. I'm not trying to impress anyone. : )
You'd hate Giant Bomb.
But anyways it's the internet, people like to stir up sh*t and cause problems because they know there are no real life repercussions. Eventually you just learn to ignore the stupid trouble makers.
Honestly Nelom, being competitive douches is part of the human psyche. It's why we would club each other with rocks when we were cavemen, then take their women. It's why people hate on everything.
The inter-play of dominance, sexual satisfaction and general aggressive bestial territoriality. We're apes we act like them all the time. We're lucky we don't fling our poop at each other all the time when we get mad
Completely agree, I'm sure they're not bad people but a lot of what I read here is pretty astounding.
'BENDIS WROTE A COMIC A DIDN'T LIKE SO HE'S THE DEVIL AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH'

Both of these, douches and tards unfortunately aren't exclusive to just CV there is an entire world wide web of them more than likely making such comments and remark due to the anonymity of the internet from the safety behind their computer screens, but in real life and in person probably wouldn't be talking sh!t.
@Thirteen13: A favorite quote of mine:
"Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing."

I am going to add you to my follow list just for this quote.

Has anyone read comments on YouTube videos? Seriously, it's not just comic fans. Its a conspiracy. Every youtube asshole is a comic book fan. True Story.
Going to have to kill you now.
Me? I'm making it. We can talk about it freely here bro, its a COMIC BOOK website. This is where I secretly train innocent comic book fans and turn them into assholes.
Mostly because what i say here is what i'll say in real life, if me and my friends are talking about something and I don't like it, i wont just agree with them, thats silly. for example my friend likes spartacus or w/e the spelling of it is, I like game of thrones so we argue and blah, blah, blah. Yes that was me, and yes I listen to real music, and rap is not real music.
Thanks for making a thread about me =)

I teach them to cover their ears and yell "Lalalalala, Batman wins! Lalalala!"
No prob bro. It wasn't totally about you. There was another guy I can't recall his name did the same sh!t wondered why he even came into the thread. Question why did you come into the thread in the first place? It wasn't like you were included in the convo, no one called you out. I was just curious, did you feel left out?Mostly because what i say here is what i'll say in real life, if me and my friends are talking about something and I don't like it, i wont just agree with them, thats silly. for example my friend likes spartacus or w/e the spelling of it is, I like game of thrones so we argue and blah, blah, blah. This is far from unique to comic book fans lol. There are douches everywhere its just on the internet they actually have a louder voice so they just seem like they are worse. I assure there are just as many out in the real world as there are on websites. Its just in reality they know when to stfu as the person next to them could slap them in the face (unfortunately this can't happen on a the internet).

Hopefully someone, somewhere is working on the technology necessary to slap someone via the internet, that is a vital project I'd be more than willing to fund.
