@Glitch_Spawn: Sure but so are Elves and I don't think I'v ever heard an Elf with a Scottish accentYou do have access to the internet and/or books. Do you not? :P
Coal.
iirc there is or was huge deposit's of coal in scotland/northern england which lead to the scots having a mining tradition. Could be the iron working and shipbuilding the scots did during the industrial revoultion.
I could be wrong the welsh are also knowing for there miners.

@Crimsonlord53: Hm I don't know if we are known as miners that much, that's more of a Welsh thing
See in my part of the world it's scot's who did the mining in the atlantic provinces. Which is a big part of the identity out east.

AAAAaaand, just what i expected, why is it that being racist to scots, englishmen, irishmen, welshmen is not considered racist? its like theres an exception for us, and as a scot, ima go and agree with the mining stereotype thing
@Jonny_Anonymous: Well if you basing most of this off of Gimli, then you should look at the actor John Rhys-Davies (Who grew up in England, Wales and Africa). Not much scottish there.
However I have noticed that when we run Dwarves in Role playing adventures (Pathfinder) most of them come with scottish accents, or at least as close as we can get here in the midwest.
And to be honest the scottish accent sounds sexy, so that's probably a plus for burly dwarf.
