Who thinks Dragon Ball is better than DBZ?

I was watching DragonBall and DBZ. And DBZ was just too much about energy beings, etc. While DB was more martial arts based and had better plots IMO. Aswell as better characters. Anyone agree?

In a way yes, because the human characters weren't completely useless. Perhaps if DBZ gets remade/retold/whatever you wanna call it, they won't get left in the dust.

DB and DBZ are the only good Anime. The rest suck, DBZ sorta lost focus of what DragonBall was all about. Still loved it tho.

I loved Dragonball. the over poweredness of the Z series was killed when I could enjoy just a simple martial arts series.

Ehh... I personally like DBZ more only because I grew up with it. I understand why people like DB more though.

Okay, I'll agree with you there. The whole future and Android thing was really cool. I didn't really like the Buu Saga though. I would love it if someone over at Jump (maybe not Toriyama, because from what I've heard, he's lost alot of his memory concerning the series) wrote a full arc taking place after either Freeza or Cell, where Gohan is the main hero all the way through (due to how much of a wuss he is displayed as in Freeza Saga although he is hyped up to be a whole new super-breed that gets super-powerful way faster than the regular Saiyans with tons of potential)and Goku is a supporting role, or at least what Vegeta is to Goku in terms of character placement. I remember Toriyama saying he tried to make Gohan the main hero of the Buu arc, and switched over to Goku because he didn't think Gohan fit the role.

Dragon Ball. There's more emphasis on martial arts and a lot less flying and energy blasts.

Goku's battle with Piccolo, Jr was awesome, however.

Dragon Ball was average but looking back, DBZ wasn't better: the horrible pacing, very few happened between episodes and they would do anything to stretch out the fighting scenes. When I first watched the Majin Buu Saga, I remembered to have dropped a few times and when I returned very little happened. Really frustrating.

Both shows were incredibly dull and there was only so much crappy dialogue and grunting I could stomach before changing the channel to Judge Mathis. I'd rather watch Big O.

@comicdude23: I take it you haven't watched the Japanese version at all. You probably haven't watched any of the anime Death Certificate listed, either. In which case, you really have no basis for your claim that Dragon Ball is the best anime ever (which it's not, not even close).

I know. If you didn't want people to start talking about other anime, you should not have made that one post about how it's the only good anime. And I said before that Dragon Ball is better than DBZ story-wise.

Also, even though it's not my favorite anime, I still like Dragon Ball and DBZ (but GT not so much) and I respect the franchise and should note that it has had a lot of influence on other anime today.
