Why must people speculate who a sequel villain will be before the first movie is even out? Seriously, I saw this happening for ASM, and it's mind-boggling.

@HBKTimHBK: Of course, you can't not have Lex Luthor somewhere in a Superman movie franchise.
They could go a little while without him.
I think they will go without him for at least the first movie. There is no mention of him in all the rumors surrounding Man of Steel. After that, he should only be a background villain, a "puppet master" if you will.

That's more or less inevitable. I'd just hope that it's after we get to see some of his other villains. When they do eventually bust out Lex, I hope they do it right. If we're lucky, we won't see him 'till a third movie.

I agree, a third movie sounds good...is there even going to be a sequel?

@HBKTimHBK: It all depends. If the rumors about MoS being self-contained are true.. then it's doubtful. They would simply bring out a different Supes in the JLA movie (which, let's face it, is very likely now), and MoS would be left alone. If it isn't self-contained though.. well, we would probably get more sequels.

@ZombieBigfoot: Speaking of which, there is no need for a Justice League movie for a very long time. They need to redo Batman and it'll take time to do it because I'm not sure the public would accept another Batman so quickly after Nolan, and they need to give every other Justice Leaguer there own thing on screen, especially if they haven't had it in a long time (*cough* Diana *cough*).
@SandMan_: Because of Marvel, not the Avengers. Avengers is just another reason. DC has needed to catch up for some time now. Avengers doing so well probably just sped things up.

So after that 3-year break, I see them starting to bust out movies, and then finally put it all together. How they'll do it without blatantly ripping off Marvel's method.. I've no idea.

Hmmm Justice League movie will be out before a WW movie.
I think Mr. Mxyzptlk would have some good potential... He'd be a great villain who wouldn't need any other villains to keep him balanced, like Brainiac or Bizarro might with Lex Luthor. Plus, he'd be able to go toe-to-toe with Superman anywhere on his own terms. They'd probably have plenty of elbow room with using him, too. He could be just a funny man in a derby playing deadly practical jokes on Superman, or an evil omnipotent trickster Superman has to keep from tearing apart Metropolis...

Thanos and Darkseid are now completely different characters, despite Thanos's initial heavy Darkseid influence, so I don't see why everyone keeps saying they conflict with each other. Besides, it's not guaranteed that Thanos will be the villain for Avengers 2 (though he will likely appear in Guardians of Galaxy, details are unknown as of now), so it could be possible, should Darkseid be in the JL movie, that he may end up being a major antagonist on film before Thanos.

Man of Steel 1- Braniac, with cameo appearance by Hank Henshaw. Man of Steel 2- Hank Henshaw as Cyborg Superman, mix his origin with Braniac's defeat in Man of Steel 1. The Justice League- Darkseid.
Brainiac (with Doomsday or Bizarro as a henchman) and then Darkseid.

What if Lex Luthor is the main villain of Superman during the first half of the movie with Superman powers and then Superman beat the crap of him, Superman ask him "How do you got those powers?" and he says "God", and then Darkseid appears as the being behind all this.

And personally, I don't want a Justice League movie, not for a while at least,....like 20 years. Nolan's Batman just finished......with pure awesomeness....why reboot it?? They should let it stick for a while, finish out 3 Superman films much in the same way, reboot Green Lantern, and try for Wonder Woman. In 20 years these characters will be so mainstream they can easily jump right in with a Justice League film.
I know most people won't like this but Nolan did a pretty damn good thing for DC in my opinion. He separated what DC was from Marvel. Sure, marvel is gonna be pooping out huge blockbusters for a while, but none of them will be like Nolans Batman...and hopefully Snyder Superman, movies that a critic can look at as something more than a comic book movie. My friend opened my eyes to this. He has never read a comic before but he loves reading and on our way to TDKR we started talking about Marvel and DC. Of course I had to educate him on some stuff, and given that Marvel kind of dominates the movies, he liked Thor and Hulk better than Superman and Batman...But! But, remember, he loves to read....and despite liking Marvel more, he thinks that DC is the better company for somebody who wants more than Blockbusters, something deeper. And this is all based on the Nolan and marvel films. So no, i don't want DC to follow suit and bust fan-bait films. I want them to keep with what Nolan started and make movies
