Jay-Z is the greatest MC to ever touch the mic.
These aren't the most famous rappers either. Lil Wayne, 2Pac, and B.I.G. are more famous than Drake, and Dre for sure.

Begone Whitey!!
@dccomicsrule2011: I try to stay more current (Eminem rarely raps any more but still)

If we're going by current, then Kendrick Lamar should certainly be here.
@dccomicsrule2011: heard OF him, never heard any of his songs on the radio though, that's why he's not on there, literally NEVER
@dccomicsrule2011: *crawls back into cave*
@jackjack390: But he's on the radio all the time...
And the radio ruins a lot of songs since they're the clean version.

Somehow I knew you were going to say that.
Every one is hating but on my radio those are the only rappers I hear (not saying anyone is wrong though, everyone is entitled to their opinion)
@xwraith: Sabine !
@darling_luna: I thought you might like that. :3 I needed something new and a friend suggested I use her.
All the rappers listed are media spoon fed garbage.
Aesop Rock is proven best lyricist.
Best rapper IMO is KRS-One.
Aesop Rock is garbage and KRS might have been the best of his era but he's definitely not better than Jay-Z.

Oh please do enlighten me how someone with a vocabulary of 50,000+ words in his entirety of music is garbage. Please do.
@xwraith: ^-^
Personally:
Eminem is the best raw technician in rap. His rhyming ability and rhyme schemes are almost in a class of their own in terms of efficiency and complexity. If you need someone to break down these aspects of rap to a raw science, Eminem is the man you'd look at.
Jay-Z is the best/most consistent rapper with things such as similies, metaphors, and wordplay. You could also argue that he has the most fluid flow of any rapper. Lupe Fiasco at his best is a very close second to Jay in the metaphor/simile and wordplay department IMO.
Kanye West is the most musically talented rapper by far. No one is as versatile as he is with using so many different genres of music perfectly as he's shown from going from different styles like the soul styled College Dropout, to the autone style 808 and Heartbreaks, to punk rock with Yeezus, etc. He has a natural knack for breaking new sonic bounds with hip hop. Whereas most rappers are simply people who limited to the use of their mouths, Kanye is a legitimate musician.
Nas and Notorious B.I.G. are the most talented in terms of vivid imagery in their work. They're so talented with this aspect in terms of painting pictures with their words that you can almost feel the stories they tell.
@wolverine08: dude, respect, you know what your doing
Lmao this list is saaaaad. None of them are top 5 material. Personally Rakim is the best of all time imo. Others include Kendrick Lamar, Loaded Lux, Chance, maybe Lupe Fiasco. BIG is up there but not to high. Em is meh nowadays. Jay-z... Is a lesser version of Nas.

Had to do this for @laflux

What this guy said!
@jackjack390: @dagmar_merrill: Thanks guys :) Shoulda added Lil B' though. Dude's storytelling is off the charts!
@killerforhire: BEGONE, HERETIC!
Has anyone made a "worlds best raper" joke yet? I hate rap music so I'm not going to read any comments.
@cheesesticks: But all three of those are legitimately talented at their profession.
@cheesesticks: But all three of those are legitimately talented at their profession.
They are good at making money, not good at being a true rapper.
@cheesesticks: "True rapper"?
@cheesesticks: "True rapper"?
Those who are not talking about money, hoes and drgus in their songs. Those who actually write good lyrics and have a good message behind their song. Those who are not changing their voice with autotune.
@cheesesticks: 1) While all three of them have definitely talk about those subjects a lot it's not like it's the only thing they talk about. 2) That's entirely subjective. 3) Why? Sometimes Kanye goes overboard, but he uses it to his advantage, most of the time.
They're all good at what they do, which is pointing they're thoughts out to the world and expressing it in their chosen field. Personally, I don't care much for Wayne or Drake (He is growing on me though) but I firmly believe Kanye is an incredibly talented artist.
The best rapper of this generation? It would have to be either Drake, J.Cole, or K.Dot. Drake seems to be the most relevant of the three, though.

That is right, he's a good artist, but a very poor rapper. Autotune is not true talent, real rapper don't need to change their voice because real Hip-Hop is done with only a man and his mic with a beat in the back.
