Poll: Who's going to hell? (54 votes)

Hell yes! 59%
Hell no! 41%

Assuming it's a real place, do you think you'd go to hell if you died this instant?

#1 Posted by JonSmith (3996 posts) - - Show Bio

I'd like to think I wouldn't. But I probably would.

me

As for me:

I'm a bisexual who doesn't pray to anything and may or may not share his body with a demon. (I'm trying to fix that last part)

Yeah, hell.

Assuming its a real place, yes.

Because I really don't believe in him at all, and I think that's breaking one of his dumb ten laws or something.

@racob7: Holla! We'll party with George Carlin and Stephen Hawking!!

#7 Posted by Eisenfauste (8352 posts) - - Show Bio

@jonez120: Its the Ten Commandments, only dumb if you aren't part of the faith :). As for the OP, not even close, well maybe if it was 2500 years ago, but presently no.

#8 Edited by Jonez120 (4707 posts) - - Show Bio

@eisenfauste: So who changed over 2500 years? God or his followers?

#9 Posted by Eisenfauste (8352 posts) - - Show Bio

@racob7: Bisexuality shouldn't define your character, or your choices.

@eisenfauste: You said you would go to Hell 2500 years ago but wouldn't currently. Who changed the criteria of entering Hell?

Not me!

if it revolves on your prayer to a greedy deity than No He will not have my prayers or my immortal soul.

if it's actually based on being a good person than yes I will go to heaven even as an atheists, and all the priests who molest little boys will go straight to hell.

Me. I'm going straight to hell.

#16 Posted by Eisenfauste (8352 posts) - - Show Bio

@jonez120: Criteria of going to hell was never changed, a new variable was added, one of forming a direct relationship between you and the son of God.

#17 Edited by SSJDarthPlagueis (2574 posts) - - Show Bio

Don't know if Hell exists but most likely yes. In fact the bible claims that majority of non religious to even the people following the bible go to hell anyways. God knew humans were not going to be very nice so he made a lot more room for Hell than in Heaven. There are many sins that we don't know we are breaking on a daily basis because there are many unusual sins in the bible.

But also that depends on what Hell you are are talking about from what religion?

He's real, but I don't think he's everything he claims to be. Gods are like political candidates except they want your worship, not your vote. They'll make up anything to make you fear them.

@youmessinwithme: You'd be surprised how many gods there are. Go read the Bible, it mentions a few.

#23 Posted by Jonez120 (4707 posts) - - Show Bio

Physical evidence anybody?

#24 Posted by Eisenfauste (8352 posts) - - Show Bio

@racob7: Yes, but it still doesn't mean anything at all, God doesn't hate homosexuals contrary to popular belief.

@jonez120: Go watch an exorcism, it's scary stuff.

Supposedly he doesn't HATE anyone, though it sure seems like some people get special treatment. But anyway, when I die, I want to hold no spiritual ties to anything. I want to be free.

don't worry you won't.

you will be.

@youmessinwithme: A god claiming they are the one and only god would be like someone saying "Vote for me, the other candidates don't exist!"

#33 Posted by Jonez120 (4707 posts) - - Show Bio

@racob7: You base your faith in god on mentally unstable people that claim they're possessed by a demon?

Why do you personally believe he is there?

#34 Posted by Eisenfauste (8352 posts) - - Show Bio

@jonez120: He isn't tangible in the physical sense, but his works/miracles can be seen everyday

Just want to say this one thing without turning this into a total religious debate, at a church of mine a man had a tumor in his body about half the size of your fist. After lots of prayer as his scheduled surgery came up once he was cut open his tumor was the size of a grape and it was easily cut from his body. They didn't know what to say, and their tech hadn't malfunctioned, tumors don't just shrink in size they have a tendancy to grow bigger and bigger which is why they need to be taken care of ASAP. That is an example.

I want to use a cliche argument if you don't mind, just because you haven't actually seen a trillion dollars, physically, before your eye's doesn't mean its not out there.

Anyway gtg, 9:00 a.m. chem recitation I'll respond tomorrow.

your god is a jelous god.

take/worship no false idols or dietys/gods

yeah I get that in christianity he(god/yeshewa) doesn't claim to be the only god. but he does claim to be the creator of everything and refer to the other "gods" as "false".

however in this case it's more like "vote for me. I don't exist!"

and you rule out entirely even the possibility that there was a malfunction?

my atheist aunt of my atheist family, in which there was 0 prayer involved had a similar case. they're was a mistake in the imaging.

@jonez120:

I've had prophetic dreams.

I've talked to the Christian God. (Yes, I'm sure)

I fought and almost killed a demon once. That was fun. ):

I have a demon inside me. (I don't think I can kill it yet)

Multiple psychics have told me I'm somehow important, probably because I beat up a demon with a baseball bat at age 12.

#38 Posted by Jonez120 (4707 posts) - - Show Bio

@eisenfauste: I'm glad for the person at your church. However I would like to go even deeper than miracles, how do you know that the God of the Christian faith performed that miracle? How do you know it wasn't Buddha or Allah or Vishnu? Why do you firmly believe that it is the Christian God who exists?

have you talked to a psychiatrist? that's the important question.

@racob7: sorry, but that's where I draw the line and call bullsh!t. You try to argue against this-

I've talked to the Flying Spaghetti Monster

I've had dreams of the FSM

I killed a Spaghetti demon

You can't argue against it because there is nowhere to make a point it is illogical. I would like to be supplied proof of any source that the Christian god exists.

#41 Posted by Racob7 (5888 posts) - - Show Bio

@jonez120:

"They survived the surgery? That's just another miracle from yours truly!"

"They didn't make it? Don't worry, all part of my plan."

They can make it seem like they're much stronger than they are.

#44 Posted by Racob7 (5888 posts) - - Show Bio

@jonez120: It's kind of hard to provide solid proof of anything via the internet, and it's unlikely it'll be taken seriously.

it's kinda hard to provide solid proof for what you're talking about. regardless of whether it did happen or not.

@racob7: Agreed. This isn't going anywhere anyway. While there isn't any real proof he does exist, there aren't any facts that help disprove his authenticity (barring evolution). So let's just agree that we disagree.

This argument has been made 1,000,000 times and neither Atheists or Theists have ever won

#48 Posted by JetiiMitra (8709 posts) - - Show Bio

I was hoping by posting this we could get some discussion about other afterlife-s. Too much to ask for I guess.

Evolution doesn't necessarily disprove the Christian God.

true but the bible claims the earth is only what 1,000 years old? and that adam and eve weren't cave people.

which of course evolution proves false. the earth was also formed over billions of years after the Big Bang. Not created totally in 7 days with people and all.
