So been wondering about this, I know in the past a few times it's been discussed but who really is Marvel's "Superman, Batman and WW" or just as iconic in Marvel Universe like DC's trio? But yeah, not talking power wise. But iconic wise.

I was thinking:

Spiderman? Captain America and Wolverine? Maybe Thor? I don't know... For Females, I'm not sure lol Storm?

I'd say Iron Man, Spider-Man and Wolverine, but I'm kind of going back and forth in my head between Hulk and Iron Man. Spider-Man was Marvel's most famous character for a long time, basically their Superman in terms of iconic status. Now with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and all the movies being made, it's different and they're all pretty famous

it depends on who you ask, but those are my 3.

This has been brought up many times but I always have the same answer.

1) Spiderman EASILY

2) Hulk EASILY

3) This is the toss up. There are 3 depending on who is asked who is in the #3 spot Wolverine, Iron Man, and Captain America. Each of these have that I know who they are look to them. After all this is Thor. =) Although he is gaining he is still well behind everyone else.

If you went by woman there is no definitive. Invisible Woman and Storm though seems to be at the top of of every ones list though.

Stan Lee and co intended for Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor to be the big three.

In terms if popularity in the modern age, it's Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Hulk.

there is no female to rival Wonder Woman and honestly their won't be. She is more known for being on par with Superman and a foundation for the Justice League then her solo stories. That is major. No female is a foundation to Marvel. Jean Grey could have been but the continue to kill her off replacing her with identical characters. Scarlet Witch is rarely used simply because they made her too powerful for comics. They try to with Captain Marvel but why mess with what they know work? Storm is probably the most famous but only the foundation to X-Men with Wolvie and Charles/Scott

Spidey/Wolvie/Hulk are their foundation. If it was a draft they would go top three for Marvel.

They don't have a clear one. Its really spiderman and wolverine. Iron man and cap will fade, so I guess hulk is next since he's more consistent.

Agree with this, although they are pushing Captain Marvel in the last year or two as their female face.

Yeah true. Captain Marvel has been my favorite female hero for awhile. I hope Marvel sticks with her. They have a lot of standout females in the X-Men, but they are always thought of as that: part of the X-Men, not a solo entity like Wonder Woman is thought separate from the JL.

Captain America (Superman), Iron Man (Batman), and Ms. Marvel (Wonder Woman). I know some will disagree with the last one, and I can understand why Thor would also be a good choice, but personally I feel Ms. Marvel has the potential to be Marvel's Wonder Woman if only they'd push the character more.

Iron Man is big right now, but we'l have to see if that persists when RDJ steps down.

I don't know that Marvel really has an answer for Wonder Woman. Perhaps the closest character to Batman would be Moon Knight??

In terms of icon status, Marvel's trinity has always been:

@w0nd: Good question, is Gladiator more iconic then Thor?

@blackstaroblivion: Hmm interesting, what I have noticed is a lot of Marvel fans in here seem very diverse on their opinions with the trinity. Some swear Hulk is in there, not Iron Man. Others say the opposite. I would think Spiderman is more iconic then Iron Man IMO at least. Gladiator, Sentry etc I think no doubt are more of a physically, power wise similar to Superman but not sure about iconic wise. Hmmm but thanks for posting!

I see what you mean. Gladiator is probably Marvel's most clever Superman copy. In terms of a Marvel trinity icon status, I think it was Quesada that pushed that agenda I mentioned above. I suppose if I had to come up with my own Marvel trinity, it would be Spider-Man, Wolverine and Hulk. All are arguably as much a household name as Supes, Diana and Bruce.

This is a silly question, there is no direct marvel equivalent of DCs trinity bc the two universes are fundamentally different. DC heroes are defined by what they CAN do, marvel characters are defined by their limits (what they CAN'T do)

But in terms of "icon" status, marvels 3 most popular characters are currently

1.Spider-Man. The face of the brand. The quintessential marvel hero

2. Wolverine. Risen in popularity through the years, especially with 80s-90s readers and the anti hero. Face of xmen brand

3. Iron man. Little kids LOVE his toys, he is very marketable "heavy artillery iron man" "detachable laser cannon iron man" "mop and bucket iron man"

Hulk/cap/thor are obvious contenders for #3. But iron man is currently way more popular with the masses.

If we are looking at the characters who had huge impacts on comic books, then the list would be

1.spider-man

2. F4

3. Avengers/hulk/x-men post giant sized

These guys gave marvel the legs for it to stand on and developed the majority of the marvel world today.

People forget that Fantastic Four used to be THE premier marvel comic to read, with the AAA team of "The king" and the "man"

@dathomiesilversurfer: I dont see how this is a silly question, think it good and curious good one actually since different people have different answers. We know the universes are different, but that doesnt mean mu cant have an iconic three..

@blackstaroblivion: yeah, pkus i think it may depend on the era as well for marvel, where as dc has always been supes, bats and ww.

If your asking about the 3 most popular heros then it's Spiderman, hulk and Ironman/wolverine.

But in terms of which heros are the leaders and the most influential in the marvel universe then its Iron man, captain America and Thor

The great thing about Marvel is they have loads of popular and iconic characters and don't need to rely on any specific characters to sell books or films.

Popularity wise, Spider Man, Iron Man and Hulk

In universe wise, the three most influential people, Cap, Iron Man and Thor, with honorable mentions to Reed Richards and Charles Xavier...

I get that. I think there are similarities between the Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark identities. I find Batman and Black Panther are only similar in preparation and somewhat in costume.

hmm, Guardians? What makes you say that? I loved the guardians, I've read every iteration of them, esp loved the DnA run. But the run that Marvel is currently pushing, with Bendis, has clearly bastardized them, so what make you say they are on the same level as characters like spider-man, hulk, daredevil ? (personally, give me Richard Rider, Starlord, Gamora, Drax, Vance Astro, Mantis, or Cosmo over the avengers any day!)

@vaeternus: sorry, it may have rude of me to hate on the question, I was in a bad mood lol
