Both decades had some great cartoon shows. But which one had the better shows?

And can you name a favorite from one or each of them?

Despite the gems such as Animaniacs and BTAS in the 90s, I have to go with the 00s for a greater consistency of truly brilliant animated shows.

I'm a bit neutral, but I'm leaning more towards the 90's. Some of the stuff I watched in the 90's continued in the 00's as well.

Some awesome shows in the 90's, stuff like X men, BTAS, ren and stimpy, Rocko and some other good shows. I mainly watched things that were both late 90's and 2000 shows, like courage the cowardly dog and ed edd n eddy. Courage the cowardly dog is a great show, love it. 000's just have a lot more quality stuff volume wise but there is a special place in my heart for the stuff listed above (especially X men and courage.)

I have to lean more toward the 90s. You have the holy trinity of comic book shows (X-Men, Batman, and Spider-Man). South Park is a hold over that started in the 90s. The only 00s animated series I really loved was Boondocks.

Leaning towards the 00's. I love BTAS but there was also Courage, JLU, and Spongebob (briefly; it went downhill after a bit).

00's for me. But 90's were great too. Just recently discovered Gargoyles.

Anyone read the Gargoyles comics? Are they any good?

I guess I'll go with the 90s because of these:

The Simpsons

Dragon Ball Z (Japanese)

Futurama

Batman the Animated Series

X-Men

South Park

Spongebob

The Powerpuff girls

Superman the Animated Series

Animaniacs

@killerforhire Adventure Time Started in the 2010's. That's an incredible show! I didn't want to believe the hype, but when I finally got around to check it out, it rocked my socks!

The 90's was one of the best decades for animation on TV.

  1. Pokemon
  2. Digimon Adventure
  3. Rocko's Modern Life
  4. Hey, Arnold
  5. Sailor Moon
  6. Rugrats
  7. Pinky and the Brain
  8. Aaahh, Real Monsters
  9. Tailspin
  10. The Powerpuff Girls
  11. Dexter's Lab
  12. The Weekenders
  13. Gargoyles
  14. Reboot
  15. X-Men the Animated Series
  16. Futurama
  17. The Simpsons (technically began in the 80's but the best seasons were in the 90's)
  18. Spongebob Squarepants
  19. Home Movies
  20. Dr. Katz, Professional Theropist
  21. Darkwing Duck
  22. Ren and Stimpy Show
  23. Batman the Animated Series
  24. Duckman
  25. The Critic
  26. The Tick
  27. Space Ghost Coast to Coast
  28. Beast Wars: Transformers
  29. The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest
  30. Batman Beyond

And that doesn't include all of the anime that came out such as Trigun, Outlaw Star, NGE, M.S. Nadesico and Cowboy Bebop. And yeah, there were a couple of Dragonball series, too.

  1. The Simpsons (technically began in the 80's but the best seasons were in the 90's)

Only The Tracey Ullman Show shorts and the first episode were from the 80's.

They were written by Weisman so if you liked the show there's a chance you'll like the comics.

I'd have to say 00's by default. I was born in 98 so I really didn't get to experience the 90's, but my childhood cartoons were pretty amazing and I couldn't have asked for better entertainment back then. Sometimes I wish I could relive those times just once more.

The 90s had Batman TAS, Gargoyles, The Tick and Animaniacs, the 00s really had nothing that even compares to those. Not saying all the cartoons from the 00s are bad just that the 90s had some of the greatest animated shows of all time.
