Who else liked the 1960/70's age of Comics better?

I'm collecting alot of issues now from the classics, and in all honesty, i like the fact that you could pick up a comic book and understand what the hell is going on. it was like in every issue there was a problem, then it was solved by the end, and that was the end of it. Now i try, with ALL my strength, to buy current comics, and half the time, its so damn hard to grasp where you jumped in. It feels like i walked into the theatres of Matrix 3, and have no prior knowledge to the storyline, or plot. now, i'm forced to buy the Collections for the story Arcs if i want something current.

does anyone else feel this way? or am i out of my mind?

The 60s through 80s were awesome. The new stuff is'nt doing it for me.

@gravitypress: I agree, but i reall disliked the X-men in the 80's. the X-men killed it for me. they got into all this weird kind of stuff, that just blew their Mutant problems WAY out of proportion. Example: Mojo, among other things.

Yeah, I feel like that sometimes as well...if there was some kind of event back in the day, it wasn't immediately preceded by another monumentally catastrophic event that would only later have all of its relevancy revoked, but rather it happened and everything followed out accordingly in the single issues that were related to the story. Now everything is an event that can only be related to another event and the only way to stop those chains of events is with another, bigger event.

Can't catch my freakin' breath sometimes when I'm reading up on a character or team because of all these events keep dragging everyone in to feed themselves.

Nope, not alone at all. I agree with everything you've posted on this thread so far.

1960's through mid 1995's for the win. 
 2000 through 2011 are just horrible!

80s and 90s yes, anything before then, no, the dialogue was just too cheesy

Not I, but not my era's. More for me I'm specific by the exact title and rather delicate about the whole process, so and era, or company, or title never factor in for me because I savor and disfavor the minute differences. But I understand the thought process, I can see the pattern within every generation of art, music and entertainment and how a persons viewpoints and preference's have a tendency to be aligned with what portion of it first amazed them.

@nickthedevil: Kind of. Not in the sense it was written wrong, I'm not 100% ever sold on that thinking. I believe everything is written as it's written, made as it's made, ect. We're a spoiled race. That said I don't deny my own selfishness either. I'm just picky. Otherwise like I said a whole era of comics? I can't take that that ride personally sorry, there's really too much of a difference between styles and flavors out there to even swallow the logic.

80's and 90's, for me.

60s and 70s artwork hurts my eyes. 
 
Yeah, I'm a ponce who needs amazingly detailed inks and colours.

Going back and getting the essential collectionsfor stuff like the x-men, avengers and such I gotta say I think the 70's had the best stories.

Meh I like today's art better much more vivid and detailed, but I will admit I did enjoy howw the writing was done back then..It was more descriptive which gave a lot of insight of what was going on internally as well as externally with the characters which made the reader connect and understand the character more...

@PrinceIMC: Yea, I'm doing the same. collecting the Masterwork series though. i cant read Black and white. But the stories are what i loved about em.

The 70's and 80's are my favorite decades for comics.

The 60/70/80's comics were the best and I have a few, though, the art today is pretty good. When I am looking through my comic, I'm just examining the pictures.

60/70/80 used classic traditional comic art. During some time in the 2000s comics adapted their art from anime. So comics these days are a comic/manga hybrid. 

Oh and Jim Lee's art is the best I've seen in comics, but his style adapted from... yup you guessed it... Anime.

Yea, i have to agree with various people here, i really like the art work of today's comics, but i was more on the subject of plot lines and such. But yea, i'm a sucker for the cover art work.

This, though I like the 60's a lot, too.

Those decades are my second(70s) and third(60s) favorite. I'm enjoying modern comics more than the comics released in the past.
