Nintendo is actually doing fine in Japan and with handhelds at least. The 3DS really couldn't be any more successful for them. I love Sega and Atari, but they never really had the marketshare to be competitive today. All things being equal, I'd say Sega since I loved games like Shinobi and Streets of Rage.

From a customer stand point it doesn't matter if they are doing really well, Nintendo could be doing well serving fried poo, all you should care about is if they are able to put out quality products you like.
@zaied: Nintendo used to rule the world. They were everywhere in the days of the NES and SNES, but when the original playstation came out they started to loose their magic. True they still have their sence of quality and you feel like you get what you paid for and maybe more, but they used to rule the world, their controller was used to move the statue of libirty in one of the ghost busters films.
They beat Atari to control the gaming market, and they beat Sega, and they won what used to be called the bit wars. I would really love to see them go back to those days, and I would love to see Sega get back to their tracks as well (SEGA, BRING SONIC ADVENTURE 3) I don't mind if they joined with Nintendo to go head to head with Sony and Microsoft.
