@wolverine08: LOL
When did rap get bad?
@wolverine08: I should probably keep opinions on music for myself. It's a dangerous subject.
Spouting opinions gets you knocked out.
I always thought rap was crap from day one....................................... There is only one good rapper and his name is
Eminem..........................................................
Eminem is great but he is not the only good one or the best one.
@wolverine08: A kick like that also knocks you out.
When Dubstep turned good.
NEVER!
DUBSTEP CROSSES THE FREAKING LINE...
any way the only good rap is songs like white and nerdy (My gosh that song is epic)
I have to say, I think rap has become less groovy now. Call it rap or hip hop (the two genres cross, rap may even be a type of hip hop but I'm not an expert so don't quote me) or something else, this is the kind of urban music I like:
Yeah, yeah, somebody take me back to the days
Before this was a job, before I got paid
Before it ever mattered what I had in my bank
Yeah, back when I was tryin' to get a tip at Subway
And back when I was rappin' for the hell of it
But nowadays we rappin' to stay relevant
I'm guessin' that if we can make some wishes outta' airplanes
Then maybe yo maybe I'll go back to the days
Before the politics that we call the rap game
And back when ain't nobody listen to my mixtape
And back before I tried to cover up my slang
But this is for the hater, what's up Bobby Ray?
So can I get a wish
To end the politics
And get back to the music
That started this shit?
So here I stand and then again I say
I'm hopin' we can make some wishes outta' airplanes
There are still some rappers I still listen to. B.O.B., Gym Class Hero, and Eminem. Most of the Rappers in my Amazon Cloud/Spotify queue are pre-2003.
Otherwise, I can't stand most of the CD's my brother and sister listen to in the car. I think it started with Master P and went down hill from there.
Late 2000's was when Rap music started to turn to crap. However, some good rappers like Kendrick Lamar and Earl Sweatshirt (post-Samoa) are in good standing while Drake and Eminem showed with some good tracks within this decade.
I feel like we haven't had any "well educated" rappers in a while. A lot of new guys come in having dropped out of high school or gotten a GED and have rarely picked up a book in their life. One of the reasons as to why Tupac Shakur is one of the greatest rappers of all time, was because he was well educated. He has read a wide variety of lituature by many popular writers such as William Shakespear, Niccolo Machiavelli, Donald Goines, Sun Tzu, Kurt Vonnegut, Mikhail Bukunin, Maya Angelou, Alice Walker, and Khalil Gibran.
