When did rap go bad? And who was responsible if you could tell me that to.
p.s. I'm not saying all rap is bad, I love childish gambino, Kendrick Lamar, kid cudi, chiddy bang, & etc.
but just most of it like drake

Bad rap has always been around, 2 live crew I cite as reference
Rap is just like any other genre up and downs, corporate "ganster rappers" cause it sells
I actually like drake...
But, rap, for me, at least the more mainstream stuff, was hurt as a genre when songs centered around dances jumped in popularity. These are songs like 'crank dat', 'dougie', 'cat daddy' and so on. Like really, I seriously heard a song based on a vine dance on my rap radio station yesterday. I think its called 'yeet' or 'huah' or something. Also, another genre I feel is hurting rap is the sudden boost of rap/r&b/club artist like Chris Brown, August Alsina, and all the other cookie cutter artist. I hate them.
But rap has always been a little shady. You can never tell until you actually listen and then just pick away the garbage. Just like all music, actually.
When was it good?
When was it good?
There is mostly bad rap now. Most of the legends make less music now and we are left with all of these fakers and crappy rappers
When was it good?
@thecheesestabber: lol great answer
Since lil Wayne came on the scene. I mean he is total garbage and just plain ruins my day if I hear him.
@redxiii18881990: stole my answer, it was him making being crazy and saggin (seriously spell that < backwards) "cool" that set the grounds for the infiltration and souljaboy came in and made everyone think they can rap. Then came t-pain, then came future wacka flacka and 2 chains and every since then the whole meaning behind songs period just straight died.
When was it good?
@doctorxander: rap is a genre of music. Despite many of the crappy artists (like any other form of music), it takes skill or talent. So it does count as musical talent. Unless you think anyone can do what eminem or nas do.
Southern Rappers killed it
Auto Tune Buried it
The Pop Industry Pissed on Its Grave
Sumps it up.
When Rappers started plying their trade for money rather then love. Money changes people, eg, Metallica.
When was it good?
That's what I was thinking.
So... Basically a hate thread for Rap? In that case:
Haters can make like bees with no stingers - Eminem
@monsterstomp: Hate's true sting is in it's buzz - Dernman
:p
I always thought rap was crap from day one....................................... There is only one good rapper and his name is
Eminem..........................................................
There's always been good rap and bad rap, you just gotta know what to look for and what to avoid.
@thecheesestabber: Hold on I'm from the south and not all our rappers are terrible. Scarface
Ludacris
Andre 3000
Cello
There are more! I get pissed when people say that. What does a region have to do with why Hip Hop sucks everywhere else?
@guardiandevil83: Little John!
Andre gets a pass
Southern Rappers killed it
Auto Tune Buried it
The Pop Industry Pissed on Its Grave
What you said.
Also, two words: Puff. Daddy. Rap was good before it was invaded by hip hop. Hip hop is the country of music.
@thecheesestabber: What about Ti? There are good artist here. Lil Jon never claimed to be a rapper, he is a DJ and producer. You can't blame the south for hip hop sucking, there are terrible New York, Boston and California artist. Cam'ron, Benzino, E-40 etc
Hip hop isn't dead and it's in one of the best places it's been in years. Southern hip hop definitely didn't kill it and it's probably why it's so good right now. A lot of new promising artists along with veteran artists are thriving right now and it's honestly in a great place!
When did the sky turn blue?
When Dubstep turned good.
NEVER!
@wolverine08: I should probably keep opinions on music for myself. It's a dangerous subject.
