C'mon dude......c'mon. Why?
Honorable mentions - AC/DC, Queen, Evanescence (Bring Me To Life)
@africanwilds: they are awesome that's why !
Dream Theater is the one I consider my favorite. Some of the others I like are Led Zeppelin, Queen, Van Halen, Rush, The Who, The Beatles, and Dropkick Murphys.
Queen is my favorite out of all of them, but too many are great to for me to think of giving the silver to.
1. Nine Inch Nails
2. Queen
3. Deftones
4. Queens of the Stone Age
5. Led Zeppelin (surprised no one has said this yet)
Black Flag and The Melvins: Both have huge and diverse catalogues, highly influential guitar players, Nervous Breakdown and Set Me Straight were two of the first songs I learned to play as a kid.
Kinda surprised not seeing anyone list Coheed and Cambria given that this is a comicbook forum
Worse Band Ever..........
Favorite band Leatherface.......

I liked their third album, but none of their other stuff really connected with me.
I think Rise Against is the only band still doing stuff that I listen to that would "fit" into Rock. Most of the others blend with metal.
Huge fan of older rock though. The 90's music like Alice in Chains, Nirvana, RHCP, Foo Fighters - etc - had a huge influence on me. And Drowning Pool's Sinner is one of the GOAT.
Classics like Queen, Zeppelin, Van Halen etc, are a given.
And its impossible to not to mention Tool, though again - not exactly doing much these days.

Rise Against! Mah man!
Queen>>>The Beatles. I can't think of a single Beatles song that I can head bang too. Queen has been my absolute favorite rock band since I can remember. I think The Beatles are way overrated, simply because they were the 1st popular group of their era. Personally I think both The Rolling Stones and The Who are far superior bands. It's not like I hate The Beatles, I just feel they are way overrated. My favorite song of theirs is probably. "Blackbird" Ironically enough written by Paul. Gorge Harrison was my favorite member of the band.
Top 3 older bands: Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nirvana and Led Zeppelin
Top 3 bands today: Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys and Kings of Leon.
No question, you picked the best Top 3 bands today, although I have so many more that I love like City in Colour, etc.
Hard one.
I can`t list a single favorite rock band but I can list a hundred which can equal to being one favorite rock band since they all contribute but I can put some over others. The two closest ways in which I can answer this question in the most reasonable way possible would be Sum 41 they are my favorite Canadian band or having the bands under their own categories so I can pick a number one for each category.
I like this thread and this is a fun question, I`ll list some off the top of my head.
Skillet, Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Sum 41, Three Days Grace, Within Temptation, Nickelback, Paramore, Radiohead, U2, Pink Floyd, The Who, Billy Talent, Maroon 5, The Black Keys, Green Day, Hedley, All-American Rejects, Nirvana, Guns and Roses, Disturbed, Rage Against the Machine, Zebrahead, Dragonforce, Trapt, Kings of Leon.
WAY too many to be able to narrow it down. Alkaline Trio, Nirvana, Pixies, Deftones, Tool, Ween, any band Mike Patton has ever been in, Hole, Muse, SOAD, Descendents, NOFX, Far, Hum, RATM, Otep, Weezer, Incubus, The Vandals....I'm forgetting a ton of them, but they're the first ones to spring to mind.
@cloakx14: Only the greatest Rock band EVER!
@punyparker: really ? never heard of them.
@punyparker: really ? never heard of them.
You jokin?
Rock is such a general term it would seem... I see Punk-Rock, Heavy Metal, Alternative-Rock, ext.
When I here the word Rock, I think of the 60's and 70's exclusively. 40's and 50's was Rock & Roll. 90's Grunge and Alternative, so on and so forth.
@punyparker: i wish.

You live under a Wakanda rock my friend. :)

It's funny, I was just about to make a post on your ask thread about what kind of music you like.
