Yes.

Ezekiel 28:12–13

12 “Son of man, araise a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say to him, Thus says the Lord God:

“You were the signet of perfection,

full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

13 You were in Eden, the garden of God;

every precious stone was your covering,

sardius, topaz, and diamond,

beryl, onyx, and jasper,

sapphire, emerald, and carbuncle;

and crafted in gold were your settings

and your engravings.

On the day that you were created

they were prepared.

Gotta love the hypocrisy on this site. People create a science thread and ask for people not to bash on it and nothing really happens. But when someone posts a religious thread it's open field for everyone to come in and bash the Bible, God and anything else religious.

You people bashing on this thread disgust me. And your attempt's to act like you are better than any religion comes off as sadly arrogant and scathingly ignorant.

People can like different bible stories for different reasons.

For example an anti-theist will appreciate a story like Sodom and Gomorrah, Global flood or the one where God sends bears to kill children, or those where God commands the rape and slaughter, because he/she believes that those stories are showing how ridiculous the bible is, and he/she feels that by sharing these stories and pointing out their ridiculousness he/she might make a positive impact on the world.

@mortein: Them pointing out those stories and then saying "I love how God kills these people etc." isn't them pointing out a verse much as using one in an attempt to bash the bible. Half of them don't even know the context about what they are saying. You don't make a "positive impact" on the world when you attempt to tear something down because it makes you feel better. Come on. Their attempt to tear down the bible come off as ignorant and hypocritical my main point. No one bashes on any of the evolutionist idea's in the science thread at all. Yet when a religious one opens up they all come over here and have a field day in an attempt to make themselves look better than a religion and above it.

If you really don't see what they are attempting to do that is too bad.

You miss a significant point though... Science Threads aren't built on a Text that talks about condoning Slavery, killing Gays, or someone drowning all the living things on the land... but the Bible which is the source of Christian belief does. The nature of what Science speaks of and is built on is not as controversial and brutal as what's spoken of in The Bible at times. Sometimes God is good in The Bible... Sometimes God is the creator of Evil ( as stated in Isaiah 45:7 ) and apparently even shown from much of the Religious Text itself.

No, they point out those stories because they like them, and the reason why they like them is because those stories are showing how ridiculous the Bible is (at least in their opinion).

You don't make a "positive impact" on the world when you attempt to tear something down because it makes you feel better. Come on.

If one considers a religion to be a bad force in our society, then he might think how pointing out those stories might have a tiny impact on the level of religiosity in the world. Upon reading these stories, someone who believes every word in the Bible might reconsider his position and become more moderate, someone who was just following religion due to his/hers tradition, might decide he doesn't want this to be his tradition anymore, etc.

It probably won't have any impact, but it's still worth a shot.

Their attempt to tear down the bible come off as ignorant and hypocritical my main point. No one bashes on any of the evolutionist idea's in the science thread at all.

All the bad ideas should be bashed on. If "evolutionist's ideas" were the bad ones I would be the first one to bash them, and if you think evolution is a bad idea you are welcome to bash it.

Yet when a religious one opens up they all come over here and have a field day in an attempt to make themselves look better than a religion and above it.

If you really don't see what they are attempting to do that is too bad.

God claims to be a perfect moral being, and bible claims to be the word of God, so unless someone also claims to be a perfect moral being, he doesn't really have to be better than a religion to point out its fallacies and wrong doings.

Also, this is a thread about sharing the Bible stories we like, not about discussing the reasons behind liking those stories, so I'll stop this discussion since we might go too far off topic.

Well, taking you at your word, I hope that you see that a thread in a forum on a website devoted to comic books is not the place to discuss the sacred. Any productive discussion or debate requires an agreed upon set of ground rules as well as maturity and the ability to respect a person who holds differing opinions and beliefs. Such conditions simply cannot be found here.

I doubt there is any place on the internet where they can. If there is, I personally have yet to find it.

Wow. The disrespect in this thread is mind numbing. Don't people here understand they're making asses out of themselves by bashing other people's beliefs? Is CV populated with toddlers? Smh.

Anyway, my favorite is the story of Moses.

@mortein: I show respect to another person's religion or beliefs or even scientific idea's (evolution for example which a good amount of I disagree with) but I do not bash it.

Bashing something for the sake of it is immature and if you don't see the disrespect they have for another person's religious text then I don't really have anything else to say to you.

The miracles and resurrection of Jesus. The creation account. And the Garden of Eden, even after the Fall; the downfall and evolution of Cain; and, the case of Enoch (everyone died except Enoch, for God took him).

@stan rodriguez: @mrmonster: @deathstroke52: If you guys are referring to David and Goliath...then you are missing the REAL Story. IMO, the story of David and Bathsheeba is WAY better. The things David does to cover up his sin, the loyalty of Uriah to his king, the multiple ways David tried to hide his sin....and the best part is: how Nathan exposed Davids sin and hypocrisy. Give it a read if you can.

Well, since no one stabbed Him in the head, and He went on up to heaven and all...I don't think He'll be making a guest appearance on the show. ;)

Although they DO have another dude that swiped his name on the show. That might sort of count.

I'm non-religious but my favourite Bible story is in the Book of Revelation when Satan is in the form of a dragon (description: a huge red dragon with 7 heads, 10 horns, and 7 royal crowns on his heads. His tail swept a third of the stars from the sky, tossing them to the earth) and this is what happens as part of the "Woman and the Dragon" storyline:

"And the dragon stood before the woman as she was about to give birth, ready to devour her child as soon as He was born.

5And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter;a and her child was caught up to God and to His throne. 6The woman fled into the wilderness, where God had prepared a place for her to be nourished for one thousand two hundred sixty days."

I also like the part where there's a war in heaven where Michael & his angels fought against the dragon and the dragon and his angels fought back. Here's the rest of the story:

The War in Heaven

7Then a war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8But the dragon was not strong enough, and no longer was any place found in heaven for him and his angels. 9And the great dragon was hurled down—the ancient serpent called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

10And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying:

“Now have come the salvation and the power

and the kingdom of our God,

and the authority of His Christ.

For the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down,

he who accuses them day and night before our God.

11They have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb

and by the word of their testimony;

and they did not love their lives

so as to shy away from death.

12Therefore rejoice, O heavens,

and you who dwell in them!

But woe to the earth and the sea;

with great fury the devil has come down to you,

knowing he has only a short time.”

The Woman Persecuted

13And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. 14But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle to fly from the presence of the serpent to her place in the wilderness, where she was nourished for a time, and times, and half a time.

15Then from the mouth of the serpent spewed water like a river to overtake the woman and sweep her away in the torrent. 16But the earth helped the woman and opened its mouth to swallow up the river that had poured from the dragon’s mouth. 17And the dragon was enraged at the woman, and went to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

And the dragon stood on the sand of the seashore.b

I like that story because I like dragons lol but of course I don't like Satan. I read all of The Book of Revelation when I was about 12 or 13 years old. I read it because it was the shortest and easiest part to fully read imo. I read it on a small red Gideon Bible they had given in school.

There is no such Bible story; Lucifer was cast from Heaven, because he actually wanted to take over God's position or be higher than God, or, on equal footing with God (see the Book of Isaiah); he only got to the stage of thinking about it or declaring it, when God just blotted him out like a bolt of lighting.

Yes, but, sometimes those episodes have some bases in reality. I can't get enough of Supernatural either. But, it's a fact that Lucifer does hate humans and seeks to steal, kill, and destroy humans.
