Sorry if this has been done before, I couldn't find anything on the search. Every user debates in different ways, some debate with simple statements, some enjoy posting large amounts of scans to prove their argument, some people like to just say their opinions and leave the real debating to others. My questions is, what's your style?
To get things started here's mine: I go into most battle threads ready to be wrong, but to go down fighting, I've decided that to make it my job to force people to prove their points to me before I back down. Sure, I might lose a lot, but at least I get to learn much more about the characters I'm debating against.
I go to battle threads knowing that top debaters will beat me and trolls will annoy me. To handle this, I make my posts show that I have knowledge on the characters used, even if I'm wrong.
I don't have a specific style. I just post my the name of the character that i believe he wins. If someone disagrees then i guess the debate will start and if i think it's needed, i would also post scans. =]
I try to be as realistic as possible and I'm open minded to the other debater, since they probably know a lot more than me. I don't use scans though, cause I don't have any :/
My debating style is situational.I make my decision of how I will debate based on what I see in the thread.I usually don't even read the OP because sometimes I don't even look for whole arguments to debate about.I pick things out of people's posts and respond to them.

Pretty much this. There is no definitive debating approach aside from applying knowledge and logic in relation to the scenario (or lack of) provided by the OP.
when i am going to debate someone,i prefer to see why they think characther X beats characther Y,often using scans or a video it is easier to tear their arguments apart :) , altough sometimes i write a long text,specialy if it is for someone where my knowledge shines (specialy if it is God of War...anyone knows more about this series than me?)
Old style i say something, then when some one is pised off i keep with mye original idea, until some one decie to quit or buy a gun and say is going to kill the other guy.

i read on whats being presented if i can. make arguments from there. try my best to stay on topic. prefer science as an explanation. am not afraid to be wrong.

Idk if i really have a style per say i just argue whoever i think would win and sometimes just post random things on topics i have no buisness being in at all
Troll and ignore everyone's evidence while making fanboyish claims and flaming everyone who disagrees with me and keep telling myself that I'm the best debater and the only logical person on the site and everyone else is an idiot.

I usually sit back and if something interest me or if somebody post is wrong i will tell them about it. Which probably will start a debate which i will albeit reluctantly, engage in
Depends on the topic of debate. I can oft be pretty stubborn in my opinions, but I always keep an open mind and try and look at both sides of the argument before making a judgment call. I usually go into it with a civil attitude, but that can be awful hard to keep up if the person debating with you acts heated. Always situational. Keep a speculative mind and hold your ground.
