@cable_extreme: Because we live in something called a society where we try to help each other. Letting somebody else die because of your selfish greed is selfish. Plus it's cheaper; pay like $8000 a year for health insure or pay $100000+ for the surgery alone then $10000+ for the aftercare when you have a heart attack, national insurance makes the most financial sense for a person.

And it may be selfish to not wish to give your money to people, but selfishness is one of the main aspects of human evolution.

I'll give you an example of why Americans have trouble with Obamacare.

Well, I live in pretty bad/cheap aparyments right now since I am in college and it is all I can afford with my job. I work almost every single hour I am not in class, and I can barely afford the apartment, let alone food. I then see people in these apartments sitting on thier a$$es all day getting handed food stamps and free living... This being paid from my taxes. Now why in the hell would I support something else that supports giving free stuff to undeserving people? Free healthcare is a communism-like ideal, one that can work in theory, but probably will not.

And what happens if you hurt yourself and have to pay tens of thousands in medical bills? You wouldn't be able to cope. Oh, but in the UK, the NHS will save me.

@pyrogram: I would be able to cope since I have family that would help me. O don't want to pay more of my money for a "forced policy" that is the problem. People to choose is all I want. I already pay a crap ton of taxes where I barely come out of it with anything left. To have to then be forced to pay for something (most likely someone else) isn't appealing to me.

@ms-lola: If you are referring to the anti communist ideas spread here there is a base for it. It is because communism so far has been seized by disaster, dictatorship, corruption and collapse. So many countries that have attempted communism have crashed and burned. Communism will not work in our current world.
