I know some of you may not have had a first job yet, but you can enjoy the rest of our pain. Your first job always has the worst stories attached to it.
The day I turned 16, I got a job at Arcada theater in the town I grew up in. I was the guy who had to do all the grunt work. I lasted about a month, after I told the manager, who loved reading comics, that comic books were for kids. Now look where I am... The mod for a comic book site.... Circle of life I guess.
What was your first job?
I did have a paper route as a kid. That has to violate child labor laws. It was horrible. And the winters...ugh.
I worked as a busboy for about a week. A buddy of mine was working there. The food was good. We had fun teasing the kitchen staff. One time I accidentally squirted the dishwasher with the big dish hose.
Then it was working in a movie theater. Just be aware that if you work in a theater during high school, you'll find you have all sorts of new friends wanting to get in for free. I'll admit I did it only for a couple close friends. Others I charged kid price. The ones I didn't like were just out of luck. Before the theater changed owners, they popped batches of popcorn during the weekend. There was time I'd get paid to just sit in a room with my stereo and make popcorn. I got paid for that. Making popcorn.
When I was at the theater, I never had any of my friends want to see movies because I was at a 2nd run theater. That and while I was there, nothing good was out....
my first job was at Burger King and I loved it!!!! Seriously, if they would pay me enough to get by on then I would work there the rest of my life.
I had a landscaping job for a woman who was out of her mind. I had to lay down huge stones (not paving stones, mind you, these were big, awkward chunks of granite and the like) in custom-shaped holes which I had to dig in order to make a walkway. It was back-breaking work, usually in 90º+ heat... Good times.

My first real job (other than mowing lawns of family members) was working at a small garden center owned by my neighbor. I loved it. I got to learn all about gardening (something I like doing, and am now quite good at) from one of the most knowledgeable people in the business, I liked the people I worked for, and I got payed really well for a middle school kid. Like danhimself, I would do that job all my life if I could make a living from it.
I volunteered a lot at the SPCA in junior high, but didn't get my first payed job until I was 14. It was working in the dinning hall at a retirement home.

It might make me sound like I'm 50 years old but I worked at a feed store (for you non-southerners, that is food for horses, pigs, cows, etc.) for $2.50 an hour when I was 14 in Chuluota, FL
