American Horror - the King of the Slasher movie. American horror tends to try and titillate it's viewers with sex and violence peppered with jump scares. Examples are: Scream, Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street.

British Horror - Suspenseful Gothic Horror that uses atmosphere for chills. Examples include: Hammer Films, Wicker Man (not the horrible remake) Tales From the Crypt, the Devil Rides Out, The Decent, Witchfinder General, Dead of Night, Woman in Black.

European Horror - Sick and twisted horror that uses the macabre. Examples include: Susperia, Human Centipede, A Serbian Film, Let the Right One In, Opera.

Asian Horror - Tragic physiological ghost stories. Examples are: The RIng, The Grudge, Premonition, The Audition, Dark Water, One Missed Call.
