@joygirl:

That's very interesting and quite intriguing. Can you provide more details?

Probably a porn star....

But if I were to pick a less socially frowned upon job, it would be a late night talk show host. You get to meet celebrities, and are world famous yet you don't have to do that much except have good comical timing, because the jokes you tell are pre written and the questions you ask are as well.

Probably a porn star....

I actually considered that seriously for a while.

#54 Posted by Joygirl (20064 posts) - - Show Bio

@inlife: I joined this thing and paid all this money for all this stuff... all these tools to succeed... but the tools sucked... but I created a website anyway and an online business... was a beautiful site, lots of products, had it all figured out... I sold goggles and safety glasses... it was called GogglesEmporium... but I only sold like 4 pairs or so, and the company screwed me over, was a big hassle, would not recommend.

Male pornstars have it good, you get paid quite a bit just to bang hot girls for an hour or so, then you go home. And unlike the women, you don't have to be that good looking, I've seen...ahem, I mean, A friend of mine, has seen some truly fugly looking male leads.

@the_stegman: Maybe the industry has changed since this very good BBC documentary was released but it shows how most male performers don't have it that well and a lot have to "go gay for pay" to make it.

(WARNING: Contains multiple scenes of NSFW imagery)

#67 Posted by The Stegman (25167 posts) - - Show Bio

@totalbalance: Yeeeah, that was like 15 years ago, I would assume both conditions for both male and female leads would have changed since then.

#68 Edited by TotalBalance (742 posts) - - Show Bio

@the_stegman: Yeah, the internet has really enlarged the porn industry to a point where it can probably treat its performers somewhat better than back in the late 90's. But I can't say for sure, I have never worked in the industry.

Leadership engenders too much responsibility, and with me in charge, would probably lead to a bloody coup. I just want a lucrative writing gig that gives me an international travel budget, health insurance, and access to notorious interview subjects, such as Empress @lykopis. A tenured teaching gig in an MFA program would be nice, as well.

Video game developer/journalist. I'd choose to be an independent developer, wouldn't really stick with an exclusive deal with anyone as to broaden my audience. I'd take my time with games, not rushing anything and only releasing a game when I'm fully confident that it's ready.

That last bit sounds like an R&B song lol.

I guess I'll take that as a compliment then!

Maker of comics. Getting there...

#98 Edited by GeekBait (785 posts) - - Show Bio

I used to want to be a writer (pretty much any kind of writer: comics, books, films, all that stuff), but I am a really harsh self-critic and as a result I can't bring myself to write anything because no matter what I write I think it's crap and end up discarding it. It's pretty frustrating.

But my dream job would be bass guitarist of a moderately successful band. Preferably one that plays pop-punk music (like Blink-182, Fall Out Boy, etc.).

Oh, and a porn star in addition to that. I was thinking about legitimately become a porn star, but I hear it kind of sucks (hur hur).

@nelomaxwell: Thanks for the vote of confidence, I don't expect to be a billionaire, I just love finance and I think it would be great if I could be the boss of my own small investment firm, that way I could set the trading policy and have control over the stuff you just don't when working for one of the big banks. Not to mention being your own boss also has the other benefits of choosing your own hours and et cetera.
