What makes a good character?

To me a good character has to have a name that stands out and a good background.

Someone who gets the attention of readers, captures the imagination of readers and keeps both.

Someone a reader is interested in, cares for and wants to know more about.

I would say a character that could be relateable and is interesting.

For a majority of idiots, it's characters that are badasses, powerful, and not interesting.

And someone who catches the attention and imagination of writers. Once you get that loop of writer and fan interest, then the character really starts building steam. Batman's a good example of that. Just about everybody wants to write a great Batman story and just about everybody wants to read a great Batman story.
