I more meant link to that specific example of threatening that kid and his family in the video in a serious legitimate way instead of like like 95 percent of all internet threats. I definitely agree that many are hostile and look for gross, shocking stuff.
I can honestly say, I have never visited 4chan and although I heard of it (all on here mind you) I have never been more curious to visit that site than I do now.

Now you are asking about 4chan but first of all you are referring to /b/ which isn't the same thing, in fact even /b/ is divided up into different communities
4chan is an image board with many different communities, most of them are meant to be work-safe but through spam that never happens and the people on those boards can be rather pretentious
/b/ is the famous board however because it's incredibly popular and influences a lot of people and causes people to do both amazing acts of "goodness" as well as some pretty horrid things and just post all sorts of funny stuff or brutally honest things...all thanks to the idea that they are anonymous, something the mass majority of people don't seem to understand which is part of the reason they think 4chan is a horrible place, because why would somebody do that, just go on the Internet and tell lies!
The thing is /b/ can be an incredibly creative place and is the source of most of the (quality) funny content that gets posted and re-posted on the Internet (ever wonder why it's all images?) and they hate people infringing on their territory which is part of the reason they want to be hated, they are an elitist group of losers...but if you lurk and get to know the place, you might be surprised to find you fit in, it's a culture of people who understand the Internet shouldn't be taken seriously
The funniest part of it all, is that 4chan was founded by the most effeminate dude you've ever met who would probably never do anything harmful in his life but his site has a reputation of being the cesspool of the Internet. 4chan doesn't want to be shared in, they will do all they can to keep you from enjoying it because it belongs to them.

It should probably be noted if you don't like 4chan, you may have a hard time with GiantBomb as well, it is like the bridge between CV and 4chan. You'll find images of the GB crew on 4chan every now and then and it's probably because their 4chan-friendly community that they have successful photoshop threads over there.
4Chan is the dark side of the internet. Some of the posts are funny and interesting but a lot of them are just.........yeah I can't find a word for it.

But both GB and 4chan have big lurker communities and as I said, I've seen crossover between the two a number of times even though I rarely venture into either (at least for their video game forums). I don't know anything about other gaming forums to compare it to. I don't think either site is that bad, it's just a matter of taste and learning to filter threads out automatically in your mind which you have to do here too.
/b/ is the bad part of 4chan. The rest of the boards are nice and not as obscure. But the things they do like hacking well 4chan wont' change that, anyone can grab there hands on hacking tools.
I dislike them, I think they are the infection of the internet. They've trolled, hacked, and made other people's lives miserable. One sad 15 year old even hacked a millionaire, took his Cars his Mansion and all of his money. Anyway, what is your opinion on 4chan?
