Legend of Zelda or Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid was not an Nintendo series.
Metal Gear wasn't either, it was a terrible port of an MSX game and a fake sequel made by a different team.

MGS isn't Nintendo, but you put it on the list, and it's the only one with a story that isn't the same f*cking thing every f*cking time, so I voted for it.

Mario, those games were great!

Mario was one of the first games I've ever played so it holds a close spot for me, but Pokemon games were largely immersive when I was younger.

Did you mean only one on the list that has a story that isn't the same or only Nintendo series that isn't the same thing? I mean both can be wrong depending on how you look at "story" but I'm just wondering.

Mario...

I chose Metal Gear Solid because it is my favorite of those franchises, even though it wasn't originally a Nintendo franchise. It was for the MSX originally and a butchered port that Kojima had nothing to do with was made for the NES.

Also, why is Metroid not on the list?

I loved Metriod when it wasn't a first person shooter...... I might get back in to video games again if the made Metriod a platformer again.......

Heh, Pikemin. I'd play the hell out of that.

... Metroid gets neglected, and MGS - a game that is not Nintendo - gets a slot?

I'm not voting on principle.

I, personally, liked both formats, but Fusion is my favorite Metroid game.

Other M was a piece of crap. I know that's off topic, but I like to slam Other M every chance I get.

Fusion was amazing. Great gameplay, surprisingly good story, and good graphics.

@jedixman: Yep, shame it'll never get a real sequel.

Fixed.

Real shame that Corruption was the last Metroid game. Real shame.

I meant a sequel in the same style. Any new Metroid, good or bad will probably be another 3D title.

Which is unfortunate. I actually don't mind 3D, but not a total change in style. They can do 3D and 2D; Mario managed to do it. They can have both in the same series. I would be in favor of that.
