Greek, Norse, Celtic, Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Maori, Inuit, Aztec, etc etc
I think mine would be a tie between Greek and Celtic. Greek mythology is probably the most well known of all ancient religions but its still a very interesting subject. I also like the variety of gods and goddesses as well as stories found in the Celtic mythology.
What is your favorite mythology?
" @Lunacyde: You BLASPHEME! How can you not loves stories about boys castrating their father's, father's eating their children, children being born out of heads and calves, an unfaithful horny God-King whose Queen is the goddess of marriage, tales of women running in terror from the sex-deprived satyrs, men being blinded or slaughtered for catching a virgin goddess bathing in public...and of course, the story of Agdystis. Sounds like quality stuff to me. "
Just doesn't do it for me. lol
Why wouldn't it count? Milton's Paradise Lost and Dante's Divine Comedy are pretty famous examples of Christian mythology (I wouldn't use the term Demon/Angel mythology to describe them though), which I consider to be rivals to the Iliad and the Odyssey." I was going to say Demon/Angel mythology is my favorite, but I didn't know if that counted "
i also like the book of Enoch i just like the christian myth stories when it deals with monsters giants ect ect...
I like the story in Celtic mythology where Donn and Danu are so in love with eachother they never separate and when their children are born they are stuck in the middle of their parents embrace and kill their father so they can escape. They use his body parts to make the earth, oceans, and sky. Its pretty awesome lol
Christian mythology is a fairly common term, though I do know Christians who do not care for it. It is not the same as calling the religion bogus, although the word myth does carry certain connotations that make people think that, especially when applied to the Bible. It is simply a different perspective on writings/stories/narratives concerning Christianity. C.S. Lewis was a devout Christian, and was known to refer to scripture as "true" myth."I guess I just think of mythology as a term we apply to religions that have died out, I've never really heard anyone refer to a current religion as a mythology (well not in that exact phrasing, they may call it bogus which is essentially the same thing but still) "
I would say Norse because it's my cultural background, Indigenous Australian because I grew up with the stories and Aztec because it just looks so fragging awesome!
