In your opinion? It can be any kind of film, from superheroes to comedies to romances to dramas etc. It can by any type of film.

To me, it's easily:

Despite not being my favorite (it ties with The Avengers), I find the Dark Knight Rises a better film.

How about you?

Also, I looked, and no one has made

  • Leon
  • Forrest Gump
  • One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
  • American History X

@TheCannon: Fine, but my point still stands.

In a world with such masterpieces as Citizen Kane, Schindler's List and Pulp fiction. With masterfully made film adaptations of great books like 1984, Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Godfather. And movies that prove a meaningful story can still be told while simultaneously giving us kick-ass action like the first two Terminator movies and the Matrix.

How could you possibly believe The Dark Knight F***ing Rises is better than all of them? A rushed, horribly passed film with gaping plot holes and post edit idiosyncrasies so prevalent you can almost smell them?

I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just struggling to comprehend what new level of Batman fanboyism must have been reached for this type of thing to occur.

@FiMFTW: Okay, first off, do not call be a Batman fanboy. That's the biggest insult there is.

As for Rises itself, it's not rushed in the slightest (look at how slow the first two hours move). The only plot hole in the film is Bane and his henchmen suddenly getting motorcycles at a stock exchange.

@TheCannon: Well, with that unbelievably convincing argument, I completely agree with you.

The Dark Knight Rises is the greatest cinematic masterpiece ever put to film, it is the greatest movie ever made, any movie that has ever been made is inferior to the Dark Knight Rises.

Who cares if American Beauty changed your life and the way you look at the world? Who cares if Fight Club left you speechless and awestruck while sitting in the cinema? The Dark Knight Rises is waaay better!

Because uh - It has Batman in it and stuff.

I don't understand why you're biting his head off about this, the question itself is 100% Subjective. Opinions vary, and being a good movie doesn't simply mean being a "Masterpiece" or a "Classic", to be perfectly frank, I too enjoyed Dark Knight Rises more than American Beauty or Fight Club, not because it has a deeper meaning, or changed my outlook on life or a certain viewpoint, but simply because it was more fun and had I had a smile on my face the entire time.Is it my favorite movie ever? Nope, but  If he like TDKR so be it.

@Decoy Elite: No it's a Australian "Western", though it's hard to classify as any one genre. It's got everything, pathos, humor, romance, adventure, amazing cinematography, amazing writing, directing, acting. Dang, I have to go watch it now. lol (Came out in the early to mid 80s btw starring Kirk Douglas, and a guy no one but me and people from Australia have heard of named Tom Burlison)

-_- @ Quentin Tarantino movies being said.

No.

Best movies:

Bridge over the River Kwai

Ben-Hur

Casablanca

White Heat

Public Enemy (Cagney version)

Night of the Hunter

African Queen

2001: Space Odyssey

Cape Fear (original)

Out of the Past

Citizen Kane

Raging Bull

Spartacus

The Searchers

All those movies make any Tarantino film look like Troll 2.

In terms of the best full length film, that is really up for grabs as there are just so many great films from different genres that make them very hard to compare. Among my personal favorites would be Lawrence of Arabia, Watership Down and Le conseguenze dell'amore just to name three of the many films I love.

But if you were to ask me what my favorite short film of all time was I would have to say The Man Who Planted Trees, beats anything else in the short film genre by miles. You can even watch it for free on YouTube, it is only half an hour long.

If Aliens came to earth, asking to see the highest quality piece of media you had to offer, the most brilliant, marvelous and exceptional thing mankind has ever achieved using a camera, would it seriously be a f***ing Christopher Nolan Batman movie?
