what is a comic book nerd?

Can someone be considered a "comicbook" nerd (marvel/dc) without really reading the comics?

can they be considered a nerd if they solely enjoy the movies, animations, toys and other merchandise, yet has a few comics but doesn't read them?

where they have seen 90% of marvel/dc movies.

No, being a comic book nerd is characterized by reading comic books. They can be nerd for a particular character or franchise I suppose, but I think someone who only reads one series like say Saga religiously is more a comic nerd then someone who has seen every Marvel and DC comic based movie, but doesn't read comics.

Not unless you dwell only in the Off-Topic forums, which some people on this site do (makes me wonder how they stumbled across this website in the first place).

@YourNeighborhoodComicGeek: They are probably more of the wandering nerd variety

Nerds are sexy now. Well, as long as one is already smart, funny, attractive and socially capable.

Hipsters wouldn't like Avengers - it's way too popular, gosh.

You're right. Hipsters would only like the Morlocks. They're so underground.

You have to actually read comics regularly to be a comic book nerd.

Dont like the term nerd, prefer to be called a geek as opposed to a nerd.

They'd love:

Jia Jing and Eye Boy

And probably Quentin, in a post ironic way, obviously. But they'd hate any more popular mutants like Cyclops and Emma. Magneto is also way too mainstream.

Comic book geek is probably a better term. And, yes you have to read comic books to be one. Watching movies just doesnt cut it.

No, we actually despise them here. Mostly because they single-handily destroyed the battle forums.
