What if everyone went deaf?

One morning you are in your house when you notice a strange sound coming in from your window. You look out and hear a beautiful melody, somehow coming from the sky. You get a call from a friend saying that the sky is emitting sound all over the world and no one can figure it out. Suddenly, a loud cacophony of sound, louder than thunder floods your eardrums and everything goes silent!

The sound has deafened you and almost every living thing on Earth. Anyone who heard it permanently lost their hearing.

What follows?

it would be easier for mass shootings to be commited. no one would hear the gun shots and no one would hear the screaming. the police wouldn't hear what people were saying.
