I wonder how different the world would be in 2014.
It's fun to wonder...

The Spanish crown or other European powers would have probably sent an expendition 10 - 30 years after he had sunk. There was a huge demand of Eastern commodities at the time and Europeans sought a way to have ready access to them. They wanted to bypass the inflated prices that the Italian and Muslim merchants were selling, so they were actively trying to find a way across (which is how the Portuguese discovered the Cape of Good Hope just a few years earlier). We could have possibly had a New World dominated by another European power, or an outcome similar to our history.
“My name is Christopher Columbus. After five years stranded on a hellish island I returned home with only one goal… to find my country. To full fill King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella's commands, I must continue to be someone else. I must be something else.”
Too many variables to consider.
North America would still probably be colonized by Europeans.
