In this timeline Osama dies in 1997. His most trusted lieutenant, who never existed in our timeline, takes over the role of leadership. This new Al Qaeda leader, although equaly extremist, for some particular reasons bears a grudge for the UK and focused more on attacking Britain.

On September 11, 2001, four British planes were hijacked. Each of them were targeted to hit the The Shard, Northwood Headquarters, the House of Parliament, and Windsor Palace. The plane heading for Windsor had its passengers revolt and the ship crashlanded on a Scottish coast with minimal casualties. The plane heading for Northwood landed at the front yard and also caused minimal casualties. The plane directed at the Parliament malfunctioned, and the terrorists aboard altered the routes so that it would hit the Shard, and it did. Some time later, the final plane also hit The Shard, causing the highest amount of casualties.

In total, the body count was exactly the same as our 9/11, except this time it's called 11-9 attacks because it hit Britain.

So how would the world react to this? What would change in Western pop culture? Would Bush back whatever Blair has in mind? Would we have another Iraq War?

How would your life have been different? Lastly, would Marvel have a Captain Britain Black Issue instead of Spider-Man Black Issue?

Discuss.

It would be a tragedy and there probably wouldn't be a war in Afghanistan. The British public (for a while) would be very prejudiced against Muslims living there.

@mandarinestro: Hard to say. Though Far right parties within the UK (like the BNP) would use 9/11 to their advantage and encourage brits to boycott Muslims.

I have no idea... But if Blair wanted war, Bush would definitely back him up.

First sentence of the OP and the last sentence of the OP has me baffled. Legitimate use of the word baffled.

@ms-lola: Marvel released a Spider-Man issue where he had to deal with 9/11. It's called the Black Issue.

Wait so you're a Muslim all along? Nice. Do you think some right-wing elements might attempt violence on Muslims though?

@mandarinestro: 1 Nuclear warhead? Where is the style in that? We send our deadliest weapons, one direction and they die from terrible music.

You're aware that Britain did have it's own attack in the form of the 7/7 Bombings on London Tubes and Buses, right?

I'm pretty sure Britain would have gone to war, and I don't think they would have held back with the nukes either...

I guess so, but it happened the day after London had won the olympics, so it was pretty sad.

Our Good Ole Major 'Murica would stay neutral. Nah, who am I kidding. Just the two world wars alone shows how much we struggle with "staying neutral" throughout a whole conflict.

America joined the fray in WW1 because the Kaiser's Navy either intentionally or accidentally attacked American boats several times and WW2 after Pearl Harbor. As a non-American, I think America has a pretty good track record of staying neutral (compared to other major powers). The only reason it intervened so much during the Cold War is because it had to tell the Communist Bloc not to mess up. But yes, I agree that America would support Tony Blair if he and the Parliament were in favor of war.

I would like to point out that Big Ben is the name of the bell not the tower and also it IS on the houses of parliament so sending two planes to crash in to it would be redundant also it wouldn't cause that many casualties in the grand scheme of things.

Let's just pretend that it caused as much casualties.

@mandarinestro: Since Big Ben and the houses of parliament are the same building you should send one in to The Shard instead

Surprised no-one has made even a little comparison to the troubles, considering it was more devastating and long-term.

I was just poking fun, but I still believe that the U.S. will hold up its alliance with the U.K. and help them oppose any threat to either of them. Even if Parliament or Tony Blair didn't go to war, the U.S. may use measures against any sort of terrorists anyway.
