What Film Started the whole post credits scenes & best ones?

Noticed a lot of movies over the years have a post credits scenes. But which movie was the very first? Anyone know?

Obviously it's a trend that a lot of Marvel movies use as most people know, but other genres use it too or in the middle of the credits like Transformers.

Also, what are your favorite movies with the best post credit scenes?

My favs so far were GL with Sinestro's scene and Curse Of Chucky. Oh and Transformers was cool too!

Airplane was one of the first famous one, I think.

Hmm idk which started it..However I prefer it when it's done right at the credits or a little bit in the middle. I like the post credit scenes but I hate sitting there having to watch through the credits. I don't care how many stunt men there were or who did the CGI or any of that stuff..I just want to see my scene XD

The Wolverine and the Avengers had the best post credit scene.
